RE: Huskies/Golden Flashes
Cochran is a really interesting player, Huskies almost waving the white flag offensively with a big bump up in his playing time. I just hope the neglect on offense is smart when it comes to tournament play.

MD—-I’m trying to decipher what you are saying. I’m reading this as you suggest that we may get into a situation that we don’t score enough and in the tourney that might happen and having Cochran on the court may hinder our scoring ability.

Other than Geno on his drives—there is not a player I like to watch more than Cochran. NOBODY comes close to his hustle and desire. He has kept many possessions alive with offensive rebounds and/or tip backs to keep the possession. Yes, he is a little raw but his energy is so refereshing to see after all these years.

You don’t have to score a lot of points (and we will probably lose a game in the tourney)—-you only have to score one more than the other team.

Remember all the Paugas and Wilsons and Porters of the world where we didn’t neglect the offense???? Where did that get us???

And—perhaps Cochran’s big bump in playing time and the winning streak are a little more than coincidence.

I just worry NIU has sold out almost too much on defense. Not that I am being overly critical! I don't want to sound like someone complaining during a 6 game winning streak. I just worry with hot shooting teams like Akron, Ball State, etc. You get a team that can go on spurts like those and you find yourself down 10 quickly, is there enough to fall back on to come back. That is what was so good about last year's team, they could dig out of holes.

I agree 100%. Kid is going to be a beast for 4 years. I think he is a better shooter than he is showing, he has injured fingers on his shooting hand.

I do think Cochran has helped maximize this team at this point in the season. My only concern is that I don't know if you can have success in a tournament playing how NIU is playing. After the decades of futility, a taste of top 4 in the MAC is satisfying for all of us I think!

A WMU upset over Ball State and a Toledo upset over BGSU would probably be what we want I would think. I see the BGSU line is -3 BGSU? Is there an injury with BGSU? That seems a little low

I see Akron has restored order vs EMU, only trailing by 3 at the half.

I hope you are right about the injury affecting his shooting, that is only thing he's missing right now. Well maybe he's a little out of control at times but he's a freshman. I love his hustle and effort and I wouldn't be at all surprised if that is a big factor in the recent success.

Agree. I’ll retract majority and submit 50% of the seasons be like this one as a reasonable attainable goal.

+1 on Cochran comments.

Monty found a diamond in the rough here. He’s fun to watch off the ball. His ability to rebound among the “bigs” is amazing.

A couple observations from last night's beautiful and exciting win:

- the defensive guarding was just great, intense all game, closed out well, Akron had maybe a handful of really open looks from 3?
- if McCarty and James weren't both in the game, they were just too long for us on the boards.
- Cochran is so much fun to watch, gets his hands on everything.
- Scott is not ready for this level yet.
- Daow didn't play in the 1st half and barely at all?
- I hope everyone enjoys German, his skills around the rim for a guy his size are just crazy.

Ah, they played Kent State, not Akron.

I haven't seen anyone at NIU drive the lane like he does, and finish.
