Gesell hasn't been particularly sharp, allowing some hard-hit balls (4 hits allowed), but has shown good control and kept the Flyers off the board.

Make that 5 hits allowed, included a pair of doubles.

Flyers pick up their 6th hit and are on the board, 1-0 in the 5th.

Our offense needs to wake up.

Redshirt freshman lefty Troy Langmeyer enters to replace Gesell.

Gesell is responsible for the 2 runners on base (walk, single). No one out for Dayton in the top of the 6th, up 1-0.

Langmeyer does a great job getting a DP ball but the Hawks only get 1 on the play; Brandenburg's foot slightly had to pop off the bag on the high throw by Baldwin.

Runners at the corners, 1 out.

Back to back walks bring in another run for the Flyers. 2-0.

Another walk. Another run. 3-0.

Henry Ryan enters to replace Langmeyer.

4 straight walks for Seahawk relievers. 4-0.

Aaaand another one walked in. 5-0 Flyers.

The smart play now is to not use any of our top remaining relievers, and save them for game 2 of the doubleheader.

Meaning this will continue to get uglier.

Bryant has a flight tonight at 7. I believe in game 2 of the doubleheader, no inning will be able to start after 5.

The length of the current game thus could play a factor in the next one. Top 8th, 8-1 Flyers.

Baldwin doubles to start the bottom of the 8th. He's now on a 9-game hitting streak dating back to last season.
