Quote:A person is on the run after police say shots were fired inside a Hickory Hill Walmart Neighborhood Market.

It happened just before 7 p.m. on Tuesday night. at the location on Hickory Hill Road near Mount Moriah.

Memphis police confirmed shots were fired inside, but no one was injured. Officers believe the person responsible left the scene on foot.

At some of our walmarts there are security guards but unfortunately they aren't armed. Does that make sense?

I don't think that area has been nice for at least 30 years.

Yep, like I said at one time it was a desirable area. I roofed many a house out there when it first started developing.

About the time it was annexed. Memphis democrats NEVER improve anything except that I have to give the current city mayor some credit, he doesn't appear to be your typical dem and Memphis actually has a lot of investment and development going on right now in the downtown and midtown areas.

That's why police were all over the place last night blocking off access.

Map of Area

Police blocked off Mt. Moriah/Hickory Hill, Mt. Moriah/Apple Tree, Hickory Hill/Apple Tree.

that 'request' was for PR and nothing else...both democrats and GOPers shop at Walmart and as a company they don't want to anger either side so they're trying to walk a tight-wire.

as for Hickory Hill and Memphis in general...don't like it? don't move here. At 1.3 million people we already have more folks than we need living here.

We could always use more. Especially those who bring businesses with good paying jobs.

Maybe some of the people who might move here could offer some ideas as to how to better our local public education system. Generations of kids are being statistically doomed to a life of poverty and dependency. We desperately need to break that cycle.

But hey, as long as we can get a few extra bike lanes to take over traffic lanes on some busy streets I guess we're moving in the right direction.

the folks who live here can tell you just fine...public transportation and schools lag behind the rest of the nation.

and yeah, how dare Memphis take old abandoned train tracks and turn them into an amazing set of bike paths that traverse the city. Perhaps if every house didn't have 2-3 cars coupled with solid public transit our roads wouldn't be so packed...but yeah, blame the folks trying to be healthy.

I was amazed about the amount of investment going into midtown when I was visiting for Christmas. Looks like money is coming back into the core.
