RE: 2020-2021 Tribe Football
Over the past few days, some FCS schools have started to opt out of the Spring season (I've seen Montana, Montana State, Indiana State, and Sacramento State within the past few days).
Hero sports is keeping a running list: https://herosports.com/fcs-football-team...2021-bzbz/
It seems tough to play more than a handful of games and still be ready for the fall season, but I'm hoping for the best.

RE: 2020-2021 Tribe Football
There will once again not be attendance at the games this Feb & March as the virus continues to ravage and it appears most will use it as an extended spring practice
and, in some cases, limit playing time to avoid injury for what will be a real football season in the fall.
W&M and other schools will also have to decide whether to actually list the games in their record books as real games.

Rumor has it that Ohio State is deciding whether to list their most recent game as a "real" game, too.

Is this confirmed? And if so, does that mean fans could theoretically be allowed at the April 10 game?

Right now all we've heard, re Coach London's last football Zoom conference, was that it was doubtful for Feb & March.
With the current vaccine turmoil and the ravaging state of the virus (3000-4000 deaths a day and predictions of over half a million
deaths before we really have vaccine leverage throughout the population) I wonder if the so called spring "season" is worth it.
I wouldn't be surprised to see it disappear.

Despite the “ravaging state of the virus” ... flu or COVID? ... New York .... NEW YORK ... the epicenter ... let real people ... 6,000 of them ... attend the Bills game last night.
Surely, Virginia ... and by extension ... William and Mary ... can start thinking along the same lines for Tribe football.
Sit six feet away. Wear a mask. Pop some Vitamin C, D, and zinc.
Trump is gone (for all the haters).
Let’s roll!
Open it up.

Notre Dame let fans attend all year at South Bend.
To my knowledge, no issues due to fan attendance.
Enough with the fear.
Let’s live our lives.

RE: 2020-2021 Tribe Football
Tribe athletes were out practicing yesterday in W’burg at Cary/Zable, Plumeri, and JBT.
It’s time to play again!
If nothing else, we’ve taken care of the vulnerable with overkill long enough ... now, it’s time to take care of the children ... the age old mantra that always gets invoked.
It’s also time to restore the mental health of our population ... that damage is greater than the COVID damage.
Go Tribe!

By the time the spring football season starts, around 10% of the population will have already had COVID and all the senior citizens will have been vaccinated. Those folks should all be allowed into the games.

500,000 expected to die by end of March..more than all the US military lost in WWII...and in just a little less than a year while WWII
took four years!
There will be no people at the so-called spring "games" and, even if 20% of USA has the vaccine by end of March that is much to
small to allow attendance. Football in the early three months of 2021 will still be plagued by postponements and cancellations.
It will be an extended spring practice.

There truly is no good reason to play a 6 game meaningless schedule this spring. I would hate it for the guys who will graduate and move on this spring but I would much rather see the team practice and get bigger stronger faster for the fall season when we should have most adults vaccinated. Current numbers indicate we can have 70% of adults vaccinated by the summer.

With this kind of fear, we wouldn’t have entered WW II and we’d all be speaking German!

Ok, so I agree, let’s have communion in Zable.
My actual point is there’s no reason to have a useless 6 game season risking injury and multiple quarantines/postponements/hurried recoveries when we can have a full season 5-6 months later.

Society can not function if it lives in fear of death.
Football players can not function if they play in fear of injury.
Some of you are asking 18-22 year olds to not play in a competitive football game for two whole years. Sorry. I’m not in that camp. If the players want to play (and apparently Towson didn’t), let them play.
Still a natty to play for this spring, right?

At this very moment I have become Howard Beale from the movie Network. When I go to the YMCA, I wear a mask. When my wife and I go out for a meal and a drink on a Friday night, I wear a mask. When I go to the office, I wear a mask whenever I venture away from my personal office. When I go to the grocery store, drug store, Home Depot, etc., I wear a mask!!!
If W&M actually does play the spring football schedule and the school decided that it was safe to sell a few socially distanced tickets, this Howard Beale would buy a ticket and go watch the guys play. And the same goes for the CAA basketball tournament.

You realize that football is played one season a year for a reason. That reason isn't fear. It's for the health of the players. If you haven't played the game you do not in ANY WAY understand the physical toll two seasons in one year will take on an individual. If you have played the game then your memory is short.

The players want to play. The coaches want to play. I want them to play. End of discussion.

RE: 2020-2021 Tribe Football
My only concern for the Spring is IF it is really just a glorified exhibition season, I don't want to see big injuries that will impact the fall season, which I assume will go off as planned with or without fans. I would hope that we use the Spring season to give players the ability to play and show what they have to offer. As I posted in another thread, we've got redshirts from 2019 who have now been in the program for 18 months and who should be much bigger and stronger than when they were 18 year old freshmen. I'd like to see players like De Buglio and Ogudo and how they've developed. Would love to see the transfers.
I will attend in a heartbeat if allowed.
