I want to say this humbly: "We are the six time defending Champions here" "We are a program to be reckoned with in this league". "We ain't backing down from nobody" "You have to believe that this is a mid major plus program and we need to be one, two or three every year"

Damn.

I've been wanting to see Linssen and Dodd on the floor together. I know we can't do it much, but I'd like to see it at critical times.

Me too.

The Homecoming King directed the students to start the “Hire Burke” chant. It was a pretty cool moment.

When he got his fourth foul he cried to two different refs before leaving the court. And he planted his shoulder into Boggs, who was standing at the ft line, on his way to the bench.

Go read their boards about our game. It's in their DNA apparently. Our guys are in constant foul trouble on the regular. I don't recall any posts about how sorry the refs were. Small complaints, but not holistic blame on the refs.

They need to build off of this game this time. Phillips is back and we have no excuses. We should go into Boston and compete strongly and expect to win. We should compete well with Hofstra and expect to win. Our offense is not there yet so each game will be tough but this team likes playing together and is hard to beat now.

I’d expect nothing less from our students at UNCW. The school always has and always will be loaded with beautiful people.

Way too much whining for my taste as well. Bottom line is the Tribe sucks right now. We were not expected to be good coming into the season because we lost 5 of our top 7 players. Some just cannot accept the fact the experts might be right and our AD pitched a fit over a terrible half against her former employer and fired the best coach we had. Do any of you guys think the Tribe would be playing like this under the previous regime? Last season the Tribe had 5 freshman that contributed heavily. It took a good while for them to get going, but they won 5 straight to close the regular season, got the 4 seed and led by 18 at half against the Hens. Then, it all unraveled in one historically bad half. The AD made an emotional, irrational choice, and then we got her 8th or 9th choice of coach with 1/3rd the talent on the team. Dane Fischer has done a good job with what he has to work with. However, when things get tough(as they always do at some point during the season), he has struggled to find any way to stem the tide. It will be easier next year when all the talent is gone because he can begin at the bottom and work with his own players where our AD has put him.

Most of our alums are desperate for a CAA tournament run. It would eliminate the yearly stress among the players and fans and also perhaps be a springboard for our AD to take full credit and leave to go somewhere else. That would a win-win for everyone and probably even the conference as a whole. Today, only JMU is likely in as bad a spot as the Tribe going forward.

In 2017-2018, you started two players who didn't attempt any threes, which is rare. Last season Cacok and O'Connell combined for 22.3 percent of your minutes. Anything over 20 percent means there were times when both of them played. I agree that Linssen and Dodd together should be tried. Dodd is up to tied with Van Vliet for second in the CAA in blocks per game, and Dodd leads in blocks per game among players who could return next season. 5.3 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 1.2 blocks in only 16.3 minutes is good. He shoots well, and if he starts in future seasons he could get a lot of double-doubles. Hofstra never has two bigs who don't shoot threes play at the same time. With Isaac Kante and Kevin Schutte this season, Jacquil Taylor and Dan Dwyer last season, and Rokas Gustys and Hunter Sabety the two seasons before, their combined minutes is a little under 20 percent of the team's minutes.

If we didn't see Dodd and Linnsen play together against W&M , I can't see us trying it. Especially with it looking like Bowen is out of the rotation. We just don't have the depth to play them together. I hope we can play Dodd at the 4 more going forward in his career but I doubt it happens this season.
