In defense of Gueye, who I agree should pretty much abandon 3 pt shooting, he seems to get caught with the ball an inordinate number of times at the end of the shot clock. He also never seems to be ready to shoot.

04-cheers

Thank you its not exactly his fault everytime. Maybe if he sets himself he shoots better. Not like anyone is shooting a high percentage around here.

all teams would field currys, thompsons, hardens and destroy the bigs playing euro ball...

I predict the low post game is coming back with a fury.

Didn’t Mak do exactly the thing you’re b****** about? Against Troy? This season?

so you think he should stay outside shooting the 3-ball there Einstein?

I knew someobody would bring up the Troy anomaly. of course its BigPee the town Troll.

If hes set and open yes would give 3-4 a game if we were the team setting the tempo most games. We have no identity and he still has a limited offensive game and hes the most experienced guy.

Would i like for him to take a "higher percentage shot" sure but if its not in the set dont improvise. He doesnt have a go post move like a Cokley.

But it factually happened.

UAB IS NEVER GOING TO GET THESE PLAYERS NAMED FROM NBA ROSTERS AS A DEFENSE..

THEY GOTO DUKE, KENTUCKY, GONZAGA, MICHIGAN STATE, NORTH CAROLINA ETC...

Gueye and Pearson need to never shoot 3s. They also need to learn to not bring the ball down to their waist in the post because they get stripped or tied up most of the time...even Butler does this from time to time...

Lol

The top NBA superstars went to small schools look it up

We are talking about a college team offensive scheme. not the hometowns of the NBA bigs that shoot threes.

dang, Stephen Hawking, you must still think you are trolling a Houston Rockets forum.

Right Chef Curry, Dame Lillard, Kawhi Leonard, Paul George , Jai Morant all went to blue bloods.

Hell Nate Oats let his bigs shoot three right up the road no
lay up line in warm ups.

Doesnt not pearson shoot one of the higher percentages on the team?

Very happy to see the shakeup in starters/bench and the minutes given out.

Gueye needs to ride the bench. Nicholson deserves his extra PT. he is producing and not a turnover machine (turnover includes 6'10" guy who bricks 3's)

I don't understand why our bigs shoot 3s or are allowed at all to shoot them.
There are like 2 or 3 big men in history that are 6'10" or taller and could shoot high% outside.

one is Kevin Durant, perennial All pro
another is Dirk Nowitzski perennial all pro

all those other bigs are silently encouraged to be out on 3 pt line where they are useless.

Thomas Smallwood

Smallword was 9/26 career. .346

For his career he had 208 game minutes played. he was probably an incredible dribbler too but we did know because he was a bench cheerleader.

and he shot 46.8% from 3 at UTC for a career average of 43.2% (38/88 total)

like it or not, the kid could absolutely shoot 3s.

Edit: I agree that his back tat was wicked

that Tat looks like the one from the Red Dragon movie except it wasn't filled in like the movie.

I just looked at UTC conference members. I don't doubt he could camp on the 3pt line and make some shots. His shot mechanics were very nice.

He never would get away with that even in CUSA 3.0.

All I'm saying is that the Golden State Warrior offensive model is the exception not the rule.

all those bigs listed that shoot 3s with a decent make % are peppered throughout the NBA and nobody is going to win the finals with a big that can do that.

GSW had Durant, Curry and Thompson...three of the best outside shooters EVER. They were an anomaly.

Conclusion: Gueye, Pearson and Butler need to stay low unless they are out there setting a pick.

His number is right were our second best big numbers are in less mins. Just he shouldve just checkef himself into games lol. Its also a trend that all the transfers put up better number after leaving.

Anthony Davis will be that big to win the finals shooting three's. Lol

No one said those big do nothing but shooting threes lol.. they have well rounded games AND can hit long jumpers. It’s the way the NBA has been going for years. It’s not going back to the 80s and 90s nba anytime soon. Even if they can’t hit threes, most bigs in the nba all have a good mid range jump shot. You almost have to. The post up only big men are like fossils now.

That being said our bigs can’t shoot threes to save their lives. Gueye shouldn’t be behind the three point like half as much as he is in our offense. One glaring example of poor coaching.

Gueye shoots threes like they are an integral part of his game....which they ain't

Brick! Bam! Boof! Clank! Wham! Bam! Thank you Ma'am!

p.s. I don't care that he hit the miracle 3 against Troy. that was a fluke.

Not sure if anyone has noticed but the last game or two we have settled down some on the rampant 3 point shooting.

But feel free to continue to knock Ehsan for not changing.

The Toronto Raptors had Marc Gasol on the team when they won the championship last year, so....
