Very happy to see the shakeup in starters/bench and the minutes given out.

Gueye needs to ride the bench. Nicholson deserves his extra PT. he is producing and not a turnover machine (turnover includes 6'10" guy who bricks 3's)

I don't understand why our bigs shoot 3s or are allowed at all to shoot them.
There are like 2 or 3 big men in history that are 6'10" or taller and could shoot high% outside.

one is Kevin Durant, perennial All pro
another is Dirk Nowitzski perennial all pro

all those other bigs are silently encouraged to be out on 3 pt line where they are useless.

That is not a factual statement.

Meyers Leonard, KAT, marc gasol, Nikola vucevic, LaMarcus Aldridge, jaren jackso, Joel embiid.

All these guys are 6’10” or taller and shoot a solid percentage from 3. Many of these guys do it with a pretty large volume too.

Smallword was 9/26 career. .346

For his career he had 208 game minutes played. he was probably an incredible dribbler too but we did know because he was a bench cheerleader.

.346

Is better than 90 percent of the current team.

Yep. .346 is a pretty reasonable perecentage. The leading scorer in the nba is shooting 36.0% on 13 attempts a game right now.

04-cheers

The only front court gripe I have is the four the play should all get 20 mins. Mak shouldn’t be at 24 mins and Pearson at 16 mins truely split the mins then ride the productive one.

.346 is not anything to consider since those are his career stats and those were against garbage teams or last minute of blowouts..

He would have never gotten off those shots against MTSU or Old dominatrix or SoPiss defenders...he was a dang sloth.

How does anybody on here know he wouldn't have bricked the next 20 attempts? Hint, you can't or don't know.

His back tattoo was awesome looking though.

They are also guys who got to the NBA because they were far better than the average college player. I don't see that sort of talent among the UAB bigs taking a bunch of three pointers.

The argument wasn’t about NBA players vs mid major college players.

There are like 2 or 3 big men in history that are 6'10" or taller and could shoot high% outside.

one is Kevin Durant, perennial All pro
another is Dirk Nowitzski perennial all pro

My comment was in response to this statement.

There are lots of nba players and high level college players who are that tall and can shoot it from outside. It’s the way the game is going. Position less basketball with 5 players than can all shoot.

Doncic, porzingis, Anthony Davis can shoot outside, KAT can shoot outside, the list is very long nowadays. This isn’t the 90s and earlier NBA any longer

you ever listen to NBA coaches talk about other team's bigs shooting threes?

they love it. Having a big shoot threes is the new fad.

Those bigs you listed are monsters around the bucket and that is where they should be.

tall guys don't win games shooting 3s.

all teams would field currys, thompsons, hardens and destroy the bigs playing euro ball...

I predict the low post game is coming back with a fury.

my final point to 6'10" guys shooting volume from the outside.

UAB IS NEVER GOING TO GET THESE PLAYERS NAMED FROM NBA ROSTERS AS A DEFENSE..

THEY GOTO DUKE, KENTUCKY, GONZAGA, MICHIGAN STATE, NORTH CAROLINA ETC...

Gueye and Pearson need to never shoot 3s. They also need to learn to not bring the ball down to their waist in the post because they get stripped or tied up most of the time...even Butler does this from time to time...

and he shot 46.8% from 3 at UTC for a career average of 43.2% (38/88 total)

like it or not, the kid could absolutely shoot 3s.

Edit: I agree that his back tat was wicked

that Tat looks like the one from the Red Dragon movie except it wasn't filled in like the movie.

I just looked at UTC conference members. I don't doubt he could camp on the 3pt line and make some shots. His shot mechanics were very nice.

He never would get away with that even in CUSA 3.0.

All I'm saying is that the Golden State Warrior offensive model is the exception not the rule.

all those bigs listed that shoot 3s with a decent make % are peppered throughout the NBA and nobody is going to win the finals with a big that can do that.

GSW had Durant, Curry and Thompson...three of the best outside shooters EVER. They were an anomaly.

Conclusion: Gueye, Pearson and Butler need to stay low unless they are out there setting a pick.

We are talking about a college team offensive scheme. not the hometowns of the NBA bigs that shoot threes.

dang, Stephen Hawking, you must still think you are trolling a Houston Rockets forum.
