NY protesters demand less police, free fares in Grand Central Station protest
Idiots. This is the literal definition of the free rider problem in Econ 101; opposing more officers to quell this kind of nonsense is the icing on the cake. You can't have inmates running the asylum. All for a transit system that's currently in the dumps, the Chicago L has problems but the CTA looks peachy in comparison.

Quote:There were multiple arrests after protesters gathered at Grand Central before taking to the streets Friday night.

Police struggled to hold back the elbow-to-elbow protesters covering the main floor of Grand Central Terminal. By the end of the night, the NYPD had arrested 13 people.

The group started gathering just after 5 p.m., many wearing masks and carrying anti-police posters. Some tried to hang banners in the terminal, all aiming to disrupt the evening commute.

Three masked members of the protest group could be seen in a Twitter video encouraging people to skip fares, damage turnstiles and engage in a mass sabotage of the MTA, pointing followers toward a demonstration at Grand Central.

The group says it wants to abolish subway fares and get rid of police patrols in the transit system.

“There’s so much in the budget that can cover free transportation instead of more police. I don’t understand why it’s going that way instead of the other way,” protester Sydney Daniels said.

The subway is already facing crushing costs to keep the system running from years of band aiding problems. I’m sure taking away the revenue will really help keep the system functioning. Idiots.

User fees won’t ever cover MTA subway costs. What they want is the system nationalized under the guise of NYC economic worth to the country. From there the system would be funded like the interstate system by the gas tax.

Lucky for the future of America, what we see here and across America, is only a tiny fraction, of today's youth. The media, twitter, facebook, makes it seem like this is the norm for most of the youth in this country. Its really not, but that the danger of social media.

Once these people hit their late 20s, most will get it, when they look down at a pay stub, and wonder who is this FICA, that is taking 20% of my pay. Then they start to figure out...things are not free, to those that are working.
