I have been impressed with his athleticism and his skillset.

I have not been impressed with his maturity and focus.

IMO, DJ and KJ Lawson’s freshman seasons are very comparable. They remind me of each other physically, too.

Lance was actually better than DJ today. Question is can Lance keep his scoring up now that teams are going to start guarding him.

That’s a good question. I haven’t watched the last couple games, but I can’t imagine teams “aren’t guarding him” though. Maybe his man is sagging off of him on the perimeter?

I’ll say this much...

I love the potential of what DJ can be, but it seems an aggressive Lance is better than a passive Jeffries. Also, if Boogie knows he is needed to pack more scoring punch, that could encourage him to elevate his game.

Seeing the UCF highlights, yeah they left LT wide open. Not sure how UConn defended him, but teams will have to pick and choose. Double Precious and leave LT open or single cover PA. Either of those scenarios could work well for us. Also, having a big you have to guard on the perimeter opens up driving lanes.

He will be missed, but this team still capable

Before today was 15-5 probably needing to go 8-3 the rest if season, maybe win one in conference tourney

Now 16-5, need to go 7-3 the rest of the way

Temple next. A little thinner but still like our chances

They said 4 to 6 weeks. Six weeks from the day they announced it will take them to semi final day of the AAC tournament. That very well could be the rest of the season.

I spoke to him at halftime of the ECU game and he said 3 weeks then.

He said he would be ready for the conference tournament.

DJ is a much better athlete and has a much higher ceiling. DJ is an NBA level player so long as he has the focus and desire to continue developing.

He needs another year at Memphis but I expect him to break out next year and be a big time player.

Not so sure about that. He’s walking around without a crutch and I’m sure he is doing what he can to stay in shape.

I do not agree with that. I think we will see him if we make the conference semi-finals.

If he's off two more weeks, I don't think D.J. would be ready after being off 6 weeks. It would take some time to get back into game shape. He should be able to jump for rebounds, run and play laterally not to mention his wind before he tries to come back. Don't ya think?

Agreed...But at this point I think a capable body is very important. I would hope he is already doing rehab, strength training and light running

He wont be in game shape per se but he should have been completely through rehab after 6 weeks. The only way to get into game shape is to play your way into like Malco has been doing. It should be much easier for DJ thought since he played much of the season and did not sit nearly as long as Malcolm.

Absolutely! I’m sure the rehab has begun.

Very likely within a day or two of his surgery, assuming he had surgery. Hhell, athletes are recovering from ACL tears in no time these days.

RE: DJ out 4-6 weeks
Usually the announcement of 4-6 weeks is until they are able to play again, not until they are able to resume practice.

More than likely, if they say 6 weeks then that should be when he is ready to play, not just return to the team.

With that said, he won't be 100% regardless. It will take some time, but it would be a much needed addition to this team, even if off the bench with limited minutes.

Penny said on the coaches show, it's looking more like 6 weeks than 4 weeks. Not an encouraging comment.

Talking to athletes and coaches who have dealt with knee issues...Once you're cleared it's the mental that is sometimes the toughest to overcome. It takes some guys a long time before they trust the knee.

6 weeks still would put him back for the conference tournament, but how much he could possibly give is a big question.
