RE: The final Lawson
Chandler is doing great at Oregon. He starts now and got 16 and 12 in a key win. The Lawsons won’t wow you with off the screen athleticism but they do everything well enough you can’t take them off the floor. Jonathan May be the best of the bunch and may get caught up in the numbers game at Memphis. I would Rather have a Memphis kid who is a 4 star unless it’s a 5 star like Derrick Rose than a non Memphis kid. But that’s just me.

This really makes a lot of sense.........not.

When I was 22 years old at FedEx, a partner in a consulting firm making millions told me that
Perception is reality. (Especially when it comes from the client)

As a naive young man I tried to argue with him,
and lost.

25 years later after going into that same firm and making my own million,
I eventually realized he was right.

I have had 0 issue with anyone Penny has brought in so far (I don't count Junior)

And I wouldn't if he brought in Lawson. Talent Wise he is a fit...And Penny has Lawson experience

I don't even really mind that he brought in Junior as long as he understands his limitations. He hasn't seen the floor much in the last two games so maybe he does. It's understandable for a father in his position to want to see his son on his team. When I coached baseball my son was my starting pitcher but he was a leftie with a natural curve ball and could hurl the speed-ball right by you. He suffered from accuracy issues though and I didn't hesitate to sit him in favor of a slower more accurate pitcher.

Aside from my love of the game one of my primary motivators for coaching from t-ball until he went to high school was to have that connection to my son.

So what’s the big secret? Why not share with the rest of the Tiger family. In the absence of truth, on a message board, it’s only speculation.

Its not my place to tell and if I did the person who tells me this kind of stuff would probably stop. So without detail I will lay it out here just like this....

Penny loves the boys, he has been around them their whole lives.
Penny and Keelon get a long very well.

Mom likes to be in charge and tends to dictate to those around her.

Your some what correct accept for the last part. I've been around that family for a long time, since all the boys were young guys just starting to hoop. Keelon has 0 issues with Penny contrary to what is told here and other places I've seen. Penny and Keelon don't hate each other or have any dislike for one another, in fact, they are cool. All the boys have played for Penny, from KJ to Johnathan. If there was an issue or issues, that never would have happened. You don't let a guy coach your kids if you dislike them. I can also tell you too, if Penny hadn't took the Memphis job, Johnathan would still be playing for him now at East and Chandler would have stayed at East last year as well. He knows Johnathan is good enough, he's watched him for years but the powers that be and fans won't bring him to recruit Johnathan and that's also why he didn't recruit Chandler. Dedra is the mother of 4 boys and has coaching in her background as well so she's not the average mom of a player/players who doesn't know how it works. She's tough but one of the nicest people you will ever meet unless you mess with or talk about one of her sons. I've never seen her want to run anything or be a dictator to anyone. When she coaching, she hard and fiery but away from the court, she like anyone else mom who has boys playing.

So you would use a scholarship when he can walkon and you could pay his way and use the scholarship on another player...

See that is where I stand...If you can get an extra player on scholarship by paying for your son...You do it. It is advantage that should be exploited.
