Anyone hearing a rumor about the former Miami starting qb transferring to UAB?

Would love this if it’s true. He’s still a Georgia kid so he would be close to home still. I think we’re recruiting the transfer market a little harder than we know a lot of talent still out there.

Redshirted without a catch. Hope he stays around.

Really confused as to what went on with him. It’s hard to believe he wasn’t good enough to see the field. Hopefully that redshirt was worth it.

He saw the field we didn’t throw his way. We said some stupid ish about Tyler not trusting WRs, plus we ran three WRs in the ground so one could 1,000 yrs from not having wR depth. Plus he kinda came in a little heavy from his JuCo injury which I think was a wrist injury.

"Chose UAB over offers from West Virginia, Illinois, Kansas and Fresno State among others" - had to be an injury and weight thing.. I can't believe he wasn't talented enough to see the field for us last year...

He saw the field played four or three games didn’t get a target. That could be a play calling or QB issue to clarify.

Got him a legit 2nd or potential starter for two years depending on how we play Mitchell and Grossman.

RE: Football recruiting
Could it be possible that Clark only intended to get him in 3 or 4 games so that he could be redshirted?

RE: Football recruiting
This staff likes to give JUCOs a year to adjust and learn the system whenever possible. Its quite a gap between JUCO and D1 ball. As someone said, some of them need time to adjust to no longer being the biggest and fastest guy on the field. But I was very surprised they never threw to Johnson last year as we saw him on the field in several games. Unless his wrist was still recovering and he was only in as a decoy or blocker. We’ll see if he has made the most of this year to adjust, learn and heal once fall camp starts.

RE: Football recruiting
We received a commitment from a WR - AJ Davis who played at the same high school as Hopkins.

Good to get a local guy. Based on his other offers, I'm assuming this is a preferred walk-on spot.

RE: Football recruiting
Not sure but we have had some pretty good OL's who started out not on scholarship.

There was also a commitment from a punter that I saw. Might have been the same one mentioned the other day.
