I do not think there is a more important game on the schedule than Saturday. 6 teams are a game apart for seeds 2-7. Winning here would give us a super important tiebreak as the season goes on. After an expected 0-2 trip up north this game loops large. Delaware just did the same road trip and went 2-0, which was not a good thing for Drexel. Delaware is right there with Towson as the hottest teams in the conference. Dylan Painter has seemingly found his groove and chemistry with his teammates. This game will be much more difficult than the first time we faced them (I believe it was Darlings 1st or 2nd game).

Delaware can pose us problems as they do enjoy slashing to the basket. We need to stay in front of them. We can't have long scoreless spells again in this one or we will be in a lot of trouble. Win this game and we can use it for momentum down the back half of the schedule (which is more difficult than the front half). Lose this game and it may be difficult for us to get out of the play in round. It appears like 8 may be the magic number of wins to get a bye. Let's get 1 of those wins Saturday. Can Spiker get this team to show up and play hard for 40 minutes on the road? I know many of us would really like to see that.

I am going with my hope versus my head

Here is the new article from AAD Link

It touches on their view of our road woes and reiterates the importance of this game. If there was ever a game to go support this team, this is it. I truly can be season-defining. That is if you needed any other reason to attend, since it is Delaware afterall

RE: @Delaware
In terms of 8 being the magic number of wins to avoid the First Round, doubling the current records would have Northeastern in the First Round at 10-8. If the three teams tied for fifth go at least 2-1 vs. the bottom three, that's 7-5 with 6 remaining games, and if they all win at least 1 other game, and none of the 7-2 or 6-3 teams fall apart, somebody with at least 8 wins will play in the First Round.

On the last weekend, Towson at Northeastern will be Sunday March 1 at 4:00 P.M. for CBS Sports Network, so we'll see how many teams clinch their seed on Saturday or earlier and how many are watching the last game needing help.

Convince me I should drive almost 2 hours to UD instead of going to sprint car expo in York.

It says you may not have a Senior Day. What's the status for next season for Green and Walton, both of whom are listed as seniors?

That merely comes down to where your desires are. In a game that would give us very beneficial tiebreakers against our rival, the team can clearly use all the extra help/motivation possible. Delaware alone, used to be enough of a reason. I know the students are sending a bus (not sure how many students signed up). Anything to motivate these kids for the back half of the conference slate and kick the road woes and start winning those games. Players feed off of energy as you know.

I am not a racing fan, so for me that is not a difficult decision, and I am from York and I would drive the ~3 hours to Delaware if I were still there. But if the program has already lost you and your interest, I get that too.

Their 10-44 road record under Spiker is a reason for me not to travel to road games. The game will be carried live on NBC Sports Philadelphia, so if you don't want to pay for FLO, here's an opportunity to stay home and watch live for free, assuming you can get that channel where you live. Now if you're going to the race track, you're going to miss the game anyway. So as dan10 stated, it depends what your priorities are.

Despite the record, you can either try and be a part of changing that and encourage these guys in an important road game against our rival or not and let everything continue to play out. I am not saying go to every close road game to help the cause, I am saying against our rival in a game that can and likely will determine our season outcome, that seems like good enough of a reason to go and support them (as well as help the students yell and make the game more like the DAC)

how did you go to delaware? did you pick up a horse and buggy in lancaster county to be more authentic? :) JUST KIDDING

it takes a little under 2 hours from mechanicsburg. long trip either way.

i'm agreeing with jb that it's hard for me to justify it...especially with my wife strongly opposed. i have a vision they'll see my son in his yellow drexel jersey and come out with guns blazing. issue is they shouldn't need my son to come out that way to begin with.

hopefully whoever does travel down there sees a potentially program changing win.

You are 2 hours to philly/Drexel from York (I include traffic) and thats going up to reading and across (which is better than route 30 all the way across). Then another 45 minutes to Delaware thus the nearly 3 hours. However if going straight to Delaware you are probably correct as I would go through Maryland/Havre De Grace and then up I95 versus going through Philly. I have never made that direct drive

With that said, I am not making the 10.5 hour drive nor flying into town for the game.

No surprises in CAA games last night. W&M beating NE really helps Drexel. It puts NE in 7th place, half a game behind Drexel and it will help them if W&M finishes first at Drexel is the only contender to beat the Tribe thus far.

it's an interesting drive from the harrisburg area. you can actually pick up 896 in strasburg behind the railroad and stay on it all the way to the bob. most of it is through amish country/farm land. we were stuck behind a combine for a while when we went to a delaware football game this year.

RE: @Delaware
Sure. Harrisburg is also 30 minutes further north which helps connect those. From York you really either go route 30 the entire way or route 30 into lancaster and north toward reading area and catch the turnpike/similar non tolls around reading and over. Harrisburg gives you that same path but direct. The more I think about it, it would be completely silly to go north and east versus just going south. So without mapping it I am guessing it would only an hour and a half to Delaware. Its probably shorter getting there than Drexel.

JB, I agree NU losing is nice, however if it comes down to us and NU for 6/7 I dont think we will like how that shakes out. Even more reason tomorrow is nearly a must win

RE: @Delaware
Without knowing where in York, Google Maps says it's 1:39 to the Bob Carpenter Center with the same travel time from three routes. The travel times are so close that the fastest route to University of Delaware and the fastest route to Bob Carpenter Center are different. For the former, it says to use 896 like hiroshimacarp said. For the latter (which is what matters), it says to take:

83 south

A little after entering Maryland take Exit 36 for 439 southeast (I don't know how it is labeled, but it goes diagonal)
439 ends into 23, which you take. It goes south, then east, then south as it joins with 165 south, then east after it separates from 165

When it ends into 1, take 1 north for a little

Take 543 southeast a little

Go left at a fork for Prospect Mill Road southeast, which doesn't have a number

When it ends into 22, go east

Turn left on 155 east

Take 95 north. You get on a little before the Susquehanna River

After entering Delaware, take Exit 1 for 896 north

the most important travel advice in delaware is to get off at elkton when you're coming north on i-95. there's a pretty easy route that avoids the toll. we learned it at the waffle house in elkton. one of those caa basketball road trip stories that make me miss those days.

Uh, Towson beat the time fairly handily last weekend in Williamsburg and has won 7 straight. They definitely are a contender at 7-3.

I don't know the exact route but I think about getting off at the Elkton exit every time I'm heading north at the MD/DE border. I've never had the balls to do it though, figuring that it would probably cost me more than $4 worth of stress.

Its been at least a decade now since I have done it, but if I recall it may only add like a minute to your trip and its quite direct and easy to figure out. It is barely even an inconvenience.
