RE: MBB Game #23 - Northeastern (Green Out)
To be honest...we have no business even being in this game. Have played like garbage just like last Saturday. Here comes Hofstra.

That feels like a weak call with 6 seconds left

MBB Game #23 - Northeastern (Green Out)
That was a fantastic play call by Dane having Nate bring the ball up on the full court pressure. Immediate mismatch against any bigs off the dribble

Bolden Brace didn't want to take a charge one Knight's play. He swiped at the ball and looked like a matador. Ouch. Win for the good guys

RE: MBB Game #23 - Northeastern (Green Out)
Stellar final play call by Dane. Stellar 3 pt shot by Luke, after our drought the whole game. Double stellar timeout call by Dane nullifying Brace's first free throw made, and resulting in him hitting only one of two when they came back out. Two games against Northeastern where Dane's coaching got the edge over Coen in the last minute. That says a lot!
And stellar play by Nate to end it all.

Conference play ... just win ... throw out style points.
Continue to be amazed at this group of coaches and players. Really like the grittiness.
Bring on Hofstra and their entertaining head coach!

RE: MBB Game #23 - Northeastern (Green Out)
Defense kept us in the game in both halves. I know Roland got his in the first half, but he's a great player and you can play good defense and give up points to a great player. Coen clearly took notes from our Towson game and had his guys all over us defensively. Teams have been able to get us out of our offense now that they have film; Coach Fischer's first real challenge is figuring out wrinkles to add to our offense to overcome that style of defense.
But the story of the game was our tough defense throughout. We weren't perfect, but we came back because Northeastern had to work for everything on offense and we cleaned the glass when they missed. Big game off the bench for Quinn Blair, too. I wish Jay had asked Coach Fischer about the play before the last one. It seemed like we were aggressive so that we'd get a 2 for 1, maybe hoping to catch them expecting us to hold for the last shot. It resulted in a bad shot from Nate, but I like what I hope was the strategy behind it. The 2 for 1 is a lost art in college basketball. One thing I'd love to see us do though, is sub in bench players when we have a lopsided lead in fouls. We were up 9 to 3 in the first half and promptly got 2 touch fouls on starters. If we put in subs there and have them play aggressive defense without regard for fouling, they will get the fouls to balance the ledger, or they'll get a steal or force a turnover. In all cases, good events for us.
On the post-game, Coach Fischer said they ran a play they practice a lot, with lots of options for Nate there. In this case, he certainly made the right choice.

Wow. Props to Dane. Clearly we made some sort of halftime adjustment on Roland. Tough, gutty win for the team.

A sweep against NU is impressive.
NU has five losses now in CAA, none more than 2 points. Will be interesting to see where they finish.
