ODU is an at-large selection as an 11 seed, playing Missouri State in the Oregon State subregional. If ODU upset Oregon State in the second round, UConn almost assuredly awaits in the round of 16, with Louisville in the regional final (presuming they get past NSU in the first round).

Other ODU opponents: Rice (12), Campbell (15), WKU (first four out)

CUSA women's basketball is pretty solid. Last week four teams in the top 60.

We are statistically the best team in the conference and it would be awesome to continue to see the fans show up. They are fun to watch. Let’s back the Ted for the ladies Thursday and Saturday. This team could very well be ranked in a few weeks.

Agree that people would love to watch this team play. As for the tournament, I think ODU will need to beat Rice at least once to get in. Tournament officials almost always lean toward selecting Power 5 schools, so if ODU loses twice to Rice, that would be one reason to leave ODU out in favor of a 7th place team from one of the big conferences.

Agree being a mid-majors MBB and WBB the margin of error is so slim.

So proud of the ladies. Shows what a top notch coach can do in just a couple of seasons. Its great to see them back in their winning ways. Hopefully Rhane can do the same with the football program and we can get the male equivalent of Nikki coaching for the mens team sometime in the future.

RE: Women's bracketology thread
Today's bracketology still has the Monarchs as an 11, this time playing Princeton in the Mississippi State bracket, with Stanford in the regional semis and Baylor in the regional final. Rice is a 12 and the CUSA champ, WKU and JMU are the top two of the last four out, and Middle Tennessee is in the next four out

Any thoughts on how the womens programs in CUSA seem to be more successful than the mens?

It's a little easier to keep good coaches. We were able to keep Wendy thru 17 back to back conference championships. That could never happen with the men's programs. The money delta in MBB between P5s and G5s is just crazy.

So what about the first 6 years in the conference? They are better one year out of 7 and now they are more successful?

Less parity on the women’s side. The bottom portion of the women’s side is really bad.

McCray has done wonders with recruiting and has the pedigree to get recruits. But trust she will be gone for the first P5 that comes calling

ODU's still an 11 seed in ESPN's latest projection, playing Arizona State in the Mississippi State subregional with UConn in the Sweet 16. WKU is one of the last four in as an 11, and Middle Tennessee is in the next four out. Rice fell completely out with the 0-2 weekend. JMU is the last team out.

RealTimeRPI has ODU as a #10 seed and WKU as a #9 from CUSA. Rice was just dropped.

ESPN has them as an 11 seed playing UK. They also have WKU as an 11, playing TCU.

They have them playing in Raleigh too. That would be nice.

If the women play in Raleigh I'd so be down with taking a road trip there.

Didn't think it needed its' own thread but the Lady Monarchs are playing in the 18th Annual Junkanoo Jam in the Bahamas next season. They had a pretty good field last year, so hope we can get some high major scalps while in paradise.

RE: Women's bracketology thread
Latest ESPN Bracketology has ODU as a #10 Seed playing #7 VaTech in Evanston. Love that matchup. The last time we played them was 2014, where we beat them in Blacksburg. We're sitting ahead of VaTech in the AP Poll at 28. Just keep winning and lets get out and support the team.
