Did those students test positive , any word from that? I want to know 1) if there is a game in Dekalb Saturday and 2) if there is do I need to wear a mask since my seats are right behind the Miami-OH CoronaHawks bench.

Yeah, I think you should wear a mask. I would recommend that for all NIU fans Saturday. It would be a good look on CBSSN.

NIU is averaging 865 fans in a basketball arena that seats 10,000. If you're too concerned about sitting too close to the Miami bench, you should have no problem finding a different seat.

We are expecting a standing room only crowd for German's possible movement to number 1 in NIU school history for scoring. Ok, in all seriousness, maybe a bump from 865 to 1200

And it would hide the identity of all us NIU fans who are ashamed to be spotted as an NIU fan a la Jets and Browns fans.

RE: CMU @ Miami Cancelled tonight (1/28)
Here's the deal. Conservative controlled Ohio legislature has had like double digit tax cuts ( mostly for business and the wealthy) over the last 20 years and has given less and less money to the state school system. I think Miami is down to getting 9% of the budget from state funding. In order to keep our quality of education ( and the traditionally very low pupil per teacher ratio) Miami has developed a strong relationship with China and currently has 1,500 Chinese students ( out of 17,000). These Chinese students basically all come from wealthy families and were straight A students and the important part for Miami, they take no scholarships and pay full out of state fees. That helps us maintain more competitive rates for instate students without lowering academic standards.
Now, we also have had J-term for several years and it has been very profitable for the university, so it is probably here to stay. It is a terrible thing for men's and women's basketball and hockey attendance, as we have only a little over a thousand students on campus for the first 4 weeks of January. I have a good friend in the business department and he takes a group of students to Italy every January. For that reason, almost all of our students were returning to campus last weekend and 2nd semester classes started Monday. That is why some students who went home to China were there when the pan (epi?)demic started and why they were returning to Oxford last weekend.
On Tuesday they isolated the two students and sent blood samples to the CDC. The University stated that it would take 24 to 48 hours to determine what they had. The odd thing is that it is now Friday night and no furthur information has been released.

In a cleverly (?)planned press conference ( during the first half of the Superbowl) the results of the tests were announced and both students were negative. They did mention that there are some other students who returned from China last weekend who are so far healthy but they are still being monitored as they have not yet passed the 14 day threshold.
