What about that killer last place versus midtable tilt on CBS, while Houston @ Cincy is ESPN2?

Going to be very interested to see how ECU matches up with Houston. The 2 games last year weren't even respectable for a minute, with ECU giving up over 90 points in both games and losing both by nearly 40.

Sad that WSU Tulsa won't be on major tv. It's a huge game for the conference standings, as is Houston v Cincy.

I anticipate the games being closer, more low-scoring, but still comfortable Houston wins.

Last year, Houston shot an absolutely absurd 56% from 3 in the two games against ECU. We aren't getting remotely close to that with this bunch, but should score enough to cover.

On the other side of the ball, what ECU wants to do just plays right into Houston's strength, that Monster post defense. Every time Gardner touches the ball, Houston will run two guys at him. Its just a bad matchup for ECU.

I feel like UH should be able to win by double digits but would not be surprised if the half time score is within 5 points. For one yall are clearly improved and going on the road is always tough. Should be a good game.

It should be fun. Most of the predictors have it as a toss up (WSU win percentage in the 50-52% range)

#TV_Viewership_Matters. Memphis and UCONN basketball are bigger brands and get better ratings. Sorry, not sorry.

Kenpom has it UC 73-68 and gives UC a 69% (nice) chance of winning.

It's an interesting matchup. In a lot of ways I think SMU matches up well with UC. SMU is elite offensively and not dependent on three point shooting. UC has been mostly good defensively but has been vulnerable against dribble penetration and teams that do a good job cutting to the rim off the ball. SMU is very tough in both areas.

SMU is porous on defense, but their biggest issue is they just give you wide open jumpers. SMU actually does a pretty good job (nothing exceptional mind you) of defending around the basket / not giving up layups and doesn't really put teams on the foul line. The strength of UC's offense is getting points around the rim and getting to the foul line. My feeling is UC should make enough of the wide open jumpers at home to score and is still good enough at what they do they'll score around the rim, but if you're SMU you'd rather play an offense like UC's than one that shoots the ball at a high level.

Numbers suggest both offenses should feast, but of course the Temple game suggested the opposite and we saw a shootout.

In conference play so far, they've been heavily reliant on 3 pt shooting. They've taken them at almost 49% of their field goal attempts, which would be 6th in the country if over the whole season. They make them at a very good clip though at 35%, so it's been a strategy that works for them.

They don't NEED that to score, but in conf play so far, it's been a critical component of their success. Only making 8 of 30 attempts at ECU is what lost them that game. Likewise, they went 6-25 in the UH loss.

Will be really interesting to see what we do to try and counter their attack. We need to be careful.

Interesting that as they've taken more 3s in conference play their effective FG percentage has gone up even more. 55.3% is a great number. No wonder they are scoring 113.1 points per 100 possessions.
