In fairness to Schiff, consider his alternatives. If Schiff and the rest of the Democrats on the Intel Committee *Hadn’t* suppressed witnesses, then the impeachment vote would never have reached the floor of the House of Representatives, never mind the Senate.

The House can still call the witnesses and impeach again if they choose to do so

Correct. If Trumps legal team shredded the house managers even when Schiff wouldnt allow cross examination and due process, imagine how badly it would have gone in the house if that were allowed to have happened.

But for gosh sake, when you call them, have the questioning focus on actual material facts instead of the kind of political self promotion that most congressional hearings turn into. Treat it like a deposition, not a re-election speech.
