Enough of this. You bandwagoners need to get some glasses and start listening to those of us who have actual, real-life experience with playing and coaching. Maybe it would be wise to also listen to those of us who have actually known Penny. He is NOT someone who is going to be able to bring a title to Memphis. Penny is NOT someone who is going to be able to do anything more than give us season after season of mediocre performance.

We've wasted TOO much time with the likes of Pastner and Tubby and now Penny. Enough is enough.

I don’t necessarily agree with OP about firing Penny but from a coaching standpoint, how has Penny been better than plain mediocre?

I mean let's not go overboard, but no commits and hideous losses are raising a red flag.

That’s the problem with hiring former player/legend. And major donor. If things don’t work out no one wins.

I think we all can agree that Penny will need to change what he is doing in order to be a successful college coach. You can’t this run NBA stuff. It’s a different game.

Last years team, despite having a large talent deficit, played better basketball.

Just proves again how important wiseman was to this team. They arent a number 1 recruiting class, or not even close to the same team without him. Again, no 3xcuses for losing a game like this one up like they were, but precious just isnt the post presence wiseman wouldve been. Matchup nightmare and our go to in times when we're bleeding the clock. No team loses the best player in the country and gets better just common sense.

Wiseman, or the lack thereof, isn't the problem with this team. Precious is BY FAR the best player on this team. The problem is coaching. PERIOD.

I got roasted like a Boston Butt 2 yrs ago for saying that, although I loved Penny as a player and person, he did not possess the fire to motivate and manage the talent he may be able to acquire. Now, just like with Larry Finch, One of our city’s favorite sons is going to have insults hurled at him. He didn’t need the money. Why would he take this job knowing it could only bring scrutiny and hard feelings?

Have to give penny at least three to four years so see if he can grow as a coach and see if he’s able to get the job done...if not then hopefully we’ll have the money to hire someone that knows what they’re doing.

Any team that has a coach that isnt complete trash knows exactly how to beat this Memphis team now. If Penny doesnt make major adjustments to the style we are playing, expect more losses quick.

I wondered how long this nonsense would take before Penny was even hired. Memphis fans going for the jugular among one of our favorites.

Apparently, 2 seasons.

Agreed. People seem to forget this is his second year coaching at a major college level and there are growing pains that go along with it.

Pennt wasnt really a great HS or AAU coach tbh. Just had overwhelming talent in many cases.

Obviously you havent seen much college hoops this season so far lol. Not talking smack but no team is really.that good, but wiseman absolutely changes the dynamic of this team especially. He changes every dynamic of every team if hes there, idk how people cant acknowledge loses him hurt more than we want to admit
