Positive: Woods looked more like herself. Moving forward that’s ideal.
Negative: post play was yuck. Woods led with 9 reb. Some crucial turnovers yet again. That’s an ongoing theme and obviously they don’t have anyone that can handle defensive ball pressure.

RE: WBB at Eastern Michigan 1:00 ESPN3
You don't have high assist totals because the run-and-gun is not built that way. The concept is to get down court and shoot as quickly as possible. And if the shots aren't falling, you hit 4 of 23 (17.4%) from three and shoot 33.3% overall, like v EMU.

Just a few comments:

--- A'Jah Davis: Just had her best game v Ohio with 17 points and 17 rebounds. Why did she not start, sat the first 3:18 of the game, and only play 11 minutes total? Still, she scored 7 pts, higher than any starter except Woods. She hurt?

--- Three-point strategy: Northern hit only 2 of 14 threes in the first half. Then they hit 2 of 9 the second half. Why continue the same gameplan when the shots are not falling?

--- Turnovers: NIU had 21, and 9 came from Mikayla Brandon (5) and Grace Hunter (4). Brandon had 4 in the first half. Brandon scored 2 pts and Hunter 0. (Also, Brandon is 6-1 and had 4 rebounds, while Myia Starks is 5-4 and had 6.) Somebody needs to sit down.

--- Starters: What was wrong with the lineup of Woods, Starks, Blackwell, Hunter and Davis? Northern played well and went 1-1 with that. I like Ally May, too, but she does not have the aggression Davis has and, as a senior, she's not going to suddenly get some. May and Nikitinaite could be 1-2 off the bench.

Beginning to see signs of the regression that other posters have mentioned. Oh, yeah, back from hiatus. And thanks to HOF 08 for posting game threads. Much better than the old WBB Weekly from last season.

The ineptness of this coaching staff is increasing by the week. I don’t know if it’s all on Carlsen or if she’s listening ENTIRELY too much to her staff (which she hired) but the idiocy is spreading in the east side of the convo offices.

It’s going to take a lot of luck to even make the conf tourney at this rate.

The best players play! Someone write that on a sticky note and slap it on their office window please.

TAKE CARE OF THE DAMN BALL! If you have that many turnovers then slow the hell down on offense. Analytics will tell you that a turnover is a lost possession and an added possession for the opposing team. Is that difficult for a coaching staff to understand?

Dead last in conference in offense (64.4) AND defense (71.1) and dead last in scoring margin (-7.3) HAT TRICK!. Impressive work. If you are going to play “up tempo” and still not score is difficult to do.

This program pisses me off *end rant*

RE: WBB at Eastern Michigan 1:00 ESPN3
Everybody makes the conference tournament. Correct this if wrong. In the MACT format, the top four seeds get byes, and the next four (5-8) host first-round games. Tournament then moves to Cleveland. Huskies are left now to play for a better seed than 9-12, which is an extra road game.

NIU is 1-6 conference with 11 to play. They are running out of games to experiment. The cliche about doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result comes to mind. This team does not have the shooters to use the run-and-gun. Yes, Woods is great, she hit 3 of 7 threes and got 27 points. But who else?

I ask again ... what was wrong with the lineup of the Akron and OU games, running the half court, passing for an open shot and letting the younger players who will be here next year get some experience at team play?

Welcome back PVK- agree with using Akron OU lineup - it is almost as if Ally has "checked out". Not sure why Davis is having limited min unless injured?
