Damn it, Kareem!!!
Man, I've been in his corner. But now this is just getting into the stupidity level. He can't figure out how to play football and stay out of the law's headlights.

Big deal. It wasn't even his first of all. Another thing, it's just marijuana...WHICH IS LEGAL IN SOME STATES. It's 2020, time for Ohio to get with the times.

In other REAL newsworthy stories, did anyone hear about the latest Antonio Brown incident? Just posted $100k bail after turning himself in the other day. Now has to wear GPS monitor, get drug tested and go through mental health evaluation. That evaluation is the best thing that's come out of this whole AB ordeal.

Probably drives better when he's stoned.

He is a PR bust.

Too bad UT cannot use him as a role model. But... hey maybe he is to the younger crowd. I'm probably totally out of touch. In fact I know I'm out of touch and I'm glad for it too.

RE: Damn it, Kareem!!!
Two issues:

Was he driving while impaired? Since he was not charged with DWI/OWI, I would assume they concluded he was not.
What is the legal standard in Ohio for possession of weed to be a crime? Is it any amount at all; over an ounce? I don't know.

If he is clear on the above and he didn't violate any terms of "probation" by the NFL or the Browns - it should really be a non-issue. I also wonder how this was made to be newsworthy - or why?

I would also recommend he never allow anyone to put anything in his car and never allow them to leave it there - for any reason. Put it in the trunk or just get rid of it. Whoever owns that backpack may find it crammed up their rear in the next few days...

RE: Damn it, Kareem!!!
Good points Moto.

I really like Kareem. I will always pull for him as a former Rocket. He probably wasn't impaired but it's still bad a idea to drive over the speed limit when weed is in your car after what he has subjected others to and has been subjected to himself. Most cops need at least 7 to 10 + MPH to pull you over. It's still bad judgement even in our current culture. It's not a big deal in my mind except for the UT role model aspect but I guess that's not a priority to him.

Go Rockets!

Go Rockets!

Unless I missed something, there is no indication he was driving while impaired. I think you could take shots at the part about it not being his - but I tend to trust the cops to make that assessment based on what they investigated, observed, and discussed with Hunt. I'm not an advocate for legalizing weed, but it is no more harmful in a backpack than it is to bring a bottle of bourbon home from a grocery store in a bag. If it is an opened bottle you are transferring from one place to another - you should know to put it in the trunk - or somewhere else where it cannot be accessed while driving. That is the law up here in Michigan and likely in Ohio as well. Same case here - that is, if he even knew the weed was in the backpack - or if he even knew the backpack was left in his vehicle. I'd be careful about jumping to conclusions and placing blame.

he does need to be extremely careful. I'd recommend finding a very good friend that can essentially usher him around. I'd recommend that for any pro athlete that resides in the "fast lane" - or if they live close to an entrance ramp that can get them on the "fast lane" quickly and easily....

It's only newsworthy for two reasons. His past run ins with the law and that he is a pro football player. A regular citizen doesn't get an above the fold headline for a couple of blunts in their car. It's still amazing how he doesn't understand that everything he does is under a hyper sensitive microscope. For the next 10 years it should be team activities, church, the gym and charity work. As mentioned he's a PR nightmare.

Like I said... He needs new friends. It's possible he "come on bro, you know they're watching me." 'd the dude in the car with him.

It sucks that no common fan will fact check this and it will actually be a story.

It's like the Ohio State players peeing on buildings. When your program or self is under the microscope, make better choices.

That smell those officers noted was probably just emanating from a plastic bag in the glove and it was a one shot thing driving a "friend" who just happened to put a bag there like all the other one shot things he's been involved with, darn all the luck. Amazing the dramatic change in character that fame and fortune caused him.

Maybe it's a good time to stop rationalizing this guy's behavior? He just hangs with a bad crowd. How many really bad parents have said that?

How bright a light does this guy have to shine on himself before the fanatically blind get it? I think it's time I decide not to get that good remotely associated with fame fealing and just put him in the "dude's gone" category.

You can say the same about alcohol and the effects it has on the liver, heart disease, blood pressure, and the brain as well.

I don't smoke weed and now rarely drink more than a couple of beers a week and every once in a while, will have a mixed drink. There is too much speculation about what happened and a rush to convict Hunt in the court of public opinion without knowing any facts other than this limited story.

Can anyone answer whether or not Hunt has been using pot? Other than speculation?

How long was the backpack in the car? Was the person that owned the backpack in the car with Hunt? Where was he coming from? (perhaps the gym) Where was he going? Maybe going to church for a charity event.

What I see is a lot of paradigms being displayed based on a story that was about 2 paragraphs long where the accused was released by police with no charges for possession, no OWI/DUI, etc. Because of his past, everyone is set to rush in with claims that he is out of control, getting high, going to strip clubs, and his closest friends are all thugs. How would you like to be judged that way based on some of your past stupid actions - forever.

The environment he grew up in was documented as not being, shall we say - ideal? I just can't put myself in the position of judging a guy based on what I read. It could be a hint that he is not making good decisions. From what we can probably deduce is that he did not fight with the cops about being put in the back of the cruiser while they searched his car, did not become unruly or abusive, did not appear to the cops to be under the influence, and the owner of the weed must have convinced police that it was the truth. They would have known his prior arrests and would have been on high alert for him to have committed a crime other than speeding.
