Yes - or maybe it is time to stop rationalizing about what you think is going on. How do you know he hangs with a bad crowd? Rationalizing? or is it just your bias? You don't know who he hangs with, or the circumstances behind the weed being in a backpack that he does not own.

I guess if I am fanatically blind, I can similarly jump to the conclusion that you are a bigot based on your observations and conclusions.

See how that works?

Maybe you should go find Hunt's social media account and alert him to the fact that you are moving on with your life without him being a part of it. I'm sure he'll be crushed.

As for me, I just don't want to see more people out on the road that are impaired. But I don't know of any facts that would indicate that would occur. People that use weed now, will continue to be the ones that use it if legalized. People can diminish their brain activity anyway they choose. If your point is that they may not be aware they are negatively impacting their brain through the use of weed, then the information needs to be communicated effectively.

Go for it. Gene Cross will be glad to know you have his poster on your bedroom wall. I personally don't think I owe anyone celebrity worship and if I choose not to be a fan, pick whatever excuse for me that works in your little little world. smh

You obviously can do no wrong. In your world it's fine to call someone fanatically blind because they state the obvious - the facts do not support any wrong doing by Hunt. Yet you come out with the "holier than thou" attitude that he is hanging around with thugs and declare him to be off limits. I called you out on that - and you run to bring in Gene Cross. In your pathetic world, everyone on this site is inferior to your intelligence. You seem comfortable writing novellas on every subject that comes along - and when you run out of marginally relevant topics to expound upon, you resort to name calling. Shake your head all you want, you still remain the most abrasive and intellectually inflated "voice" on this site. You are the one that decided you would stop idolizing Hunt and wanted to make sure everyone knew you were putting your foot down that no one else should pay any more attention to him based on a limited article in a newspaper - that alleged he did nothing more than exceed the speed limit. You can read into it whatever you want, but to then claim anyone that thinks he did nothing wrong to be idolizing him is beyond ridiculous.

I know you have to have the last word on every argument you get into with posters on this site, so when you get done shaking your damn head, then go ahead and make some more irrelevant comments. You can't resist it.

I can call myself whatever I care to. You think I should be forced to be some football player's "fan?" And then you decide someone must be racist because they choose not to be a fan of a celebrity's behavior? That's YOU making connections between race and behavior, not me.

Who the hell do you think you are? When I was alone calling out the hiring process for Candle not giving diversity a chance (having the same concerns about the recent hires, which I kept shut about for peace of the board), where were you? In your hole.

Let's review:
I NEVER quoted your post, your opinion, made reference to it let alone stated it was poorly derived. Not my place.

It's a message board, college graduates are expected to hear DIVERSE opinions even amongst people with similar "fanaticism" without getting wrapped.

If you want the "last word," the way to do that is not make another accusation but to realize sometimes adults agree to disagree. You state that without equivacation. I don't state that because I never raised disagreement to your opinion about Hunt.

So, did you laminate Cross' poster or are you going for mint condition?

you're getting all nuts about this. I don't think this is newsworthy. That doesn't make me fanatically blind. Even if I dismiss this it doesn't mean I have a Gene Cross poster hanging in my house. Quite the contrary. Get a grip. Now get the last post. We all know you need that.

Why thank you. I don't need it but as I wrote, the CIVIL way to end a disagreement isn't to take a shot at someone and expect the situation to end. It's to agree to disagree.

I'm not getting "nuts." I'm getting rational. This to me is the latest in a pattern of behavior. Hes an adult, not a kid. Been one for quite some time. I prefer to distance myself from any appearance of enabling. I based my decision on that. Reasoned. To you it's not crossed some standard I presume you have. To me, it was something I should have decided last time.

The reference to Cross I think would be clear. Everyone (I think) has their lines where they will no long support or follow or care or they will make decisions based upon their personal ethics. As a board, we followed him. We were "fans." Then we were not based on things he did.

I made a point to no longer let my "fanaticism" blind me and a few people on this board act like a person should not have that choice or you'll play whack-a-mole on them just for saying it. How is that response to a persons choice, that affects only them, open to "diversity" or even educated? I suppose I should make that rhetorical or it might seem like a "shot."

You will note: not a single shot at your desire to do whatever you please regards Hunt. It's your choice, your business, doesn't affect me and my opinion of your choice doesn't even matter to me.

Told you he couldn't resist. It's a self esteem issue - and proves how easy it is to push his buttons. But, it's ok for him to call anyone a name, then comes the expected response, followed by more name calling and another novella to prove his innocence and virtuosity in matters related to any and all topics he inevitably finds himself embroiled in. I spent about 2 years ignoring his inane comments - but every once in awhile, I still find humor in getting his hackles up over - anything...

and another response coming in 3-2-1....

I am going to do my level best not to expound negatively on this issue, one way or another ....
Moto and East both make compelling arguments on how they feel what has transpired recently, in regards to Kareem Hunt ....
Having a healthy dialogue on this board is always GOOD ....
With that being said, - Go Rockets, beat Kent !!

You almost didn't get to "1." My heart hasn't raised a beat.

It doesn't appear that YOU could resist the response or post without personal attack or comment. I made it easy for us both to walk-away. Agree to disagree. You couldn't and you needed a back-up buddy to boot. Who is it that is having self-esteem issues?

That short enough?

My hope would be that we could make it appear the University is represented by intelligent human beings.

If you want, we can trash this board, turn it into a damaging insult of each other, the school, the athletic program. How far are you willing? Or can you be civil, live with a world that doesn't make the same choices as you?

Truth.

But apparently it was neither his nor was he smoking. The officer said he smelled it. Must have been strong stuff, smell comig from the backpack and all. I could never be a fan of someone with a stinky car.

Doesn't really matter to the NFL if he was smoking or whether it was not his, one has to question the maturity and wisdom of a guy already just coming off a NFL suspension to put himself in situation (and he choose to be in that car) which regardless of the legal aspects, will again put him at the mercy of the NFL. League will again investigate and again independent of any legal case, will decide whether someone who has already been suspended once, has again put himself and league in situation that the NFL deems unacceptable. And it also does not matter about the debate over whether its should be legal or not as in current CBA it is not permitted to be used by current players under contract in the league. Again he has put himself and his team at risk to possible suspension of a player who is also entering last year of a contract.

I 100% agree. Its immaterial if he was smoking or not. Unfortunately he is guilty before being proven innocent in the eyes of the NFL. Even if he never touched it, he put himself in a position to beg for forgiveness. He decision making off the field has to get better.

Was this the worst thing in the world? No. But given his recent history, he needs to be squeaky clean. No one to blame but himself. Can't blame his friends. Can't blame his brother.

Quote:The officer returned to the cruiser with a plastic bag of marijuana. Hunt, who said he was on the way to the airport to catch a flight, said it was his brother's, but when pressed as to whether he would fail a drug test, Hunt admitted he would.

"It's the offseason," Hunt answered. "Sorry, I was having a good time."

Well, with this article and evidence - I officially change my opinion to - "what a dumba$$". Surprised the police gave him that much leniency and did not test him. I supposed that would only indicate he had smoked weed or a derivitive, but may not have indicated if he was impaired. Don't know how that works.

I gave him him the benefit of the doubt because I had 2 people on my boat about 10 years ago that had easily 3-5 (or more) ounces of weed in their beach bag. Then they started smoking it on my swim platform in huge raft off party. At that time, they could have impounded my boat given the quantity of pot they had on them. I don't know what else they may have had. I knew both of them fairly well, but they were invited out by a close friend who knew them better than me. I had no idea they had it on them. But, would have been a lot easier to prove my case - they were actually on the boat...

RE: Damn it, Kareem!!!
latest info adds a little some concern, both from kareem's side and the police. given that there was an open container of hard liquor in the vehicle and a closed container of weed in a backpack in the backseat this suggests he was actively drinking and not smoking (but according to him had weed in his system). this is much more dangerous. most people don't know the science but you drive primarily through long term memory and reactions. alcohol is a depressant that slows the transmission of nerve signals from your brain and impairs long term memory function. this messes with drivers' capacity on multiple levels (you may see the tail lights in the car in front of you have turned on but the brain's long term memory response that this means "slow down" is spotty plus the brain signal goes to your brake foot more slowly) or someone is cutting in front of me means I should slow down, becomes a slow response to what is happening in front of you paired w a slow response to react to it. alcohol is very dangerous for drivers.

weed primarily impacts your short term memory. you can remember old stories, react quickly to stimulation but will forget what you were talking about 30 seconds ago. since short term memory isn't really a part of driving, weed isn't typically associated with accidents. not to say it's helpful or that it won't make a bad driver worse, but it doesn't physically impact the body functions that are typically associated w accidents.

if kareem is drinking and driving he is much more dangerous on the road than if he simply has weed in his system and that the browns fan cop who let that slide probably took his fandom a bit too far.
