Mention the last school in CUSA to do this if you wish as well as how they got an at large bid.

Stop worrying about at-large bids. Worry about consistently winning CUSA. Finishing 2nd or even 3rd occasionally will help rebuild the brand in the eyes of the PTB. Think Murray State and Belmont of the OVC. Neither wins the conference every year but they are well-regarded and at least get the benefit of the doubt as quality programs that other quality teams will play. Winning the conference and consistently being a dominant team in CUSA is what we should focus on. Let everything else take care of itself.

This. Taking nothing away from basketball, sincerely, but football has taken us to a place we couldn’t have reached. Just in the recent case, CUSA was more than prepared to revoke our membership without football. Where do we end up? This applies all the way back to the time the football program went 1-A. Look around and tell me what conference, here in the south, we would play in without football.

But this does confirm that changes have to be made pronto. AAC is interested in our program, especially with the recent positive publicity and new stadium. But we don’t need anything to give them pause. If basketball is back to even 80% of what it was that just eliminates a hurdle.

The Southern Conference, which looks a hell of a lot better than whatever version of CUSA we are in.

I wasn't going to say anything but it isn't like this current version of CUSA Basketball is anything to brag about. Any conference UAB would have ended up at without football would be either an even trade off or better than CUSA right now.

Now I would like to know if Blazr would enlighten us on the AAC being interested in UAB Football. This is news to me.

If the OVC can do it, CUSA can do it.

Hurray! I see the way now. Thanks guys. Just win every game up until the championship game and also make sure you get 6 or 7 tournament bids in the previous 10 years.

Most of those posting negatively on twitter and facebook and Blazertalk wouldn't account for 10% of the boosters.

I'm sure you can throw together a poll on twitter and have it come out to your liking.

Wouldn't make a hill of beans of a difference in what actually happens.

I suspect that Ehsan will be given 2 more seasons at most to show improvement.

"Fans" yelling and whining and kicking their feet when they don't get their way isn't helpful to the program.

Since the Haase era, Davis actually played tough schedules. Fans showed up and we got a bubble bid out of Davis. How about that special 2014-15 season? And the best team in the history of uab basketball that 2015-2016 team.

Davis had the luxury of being in a league where you have 3 or 4 bids to the tournament. Certainly a bonus. He also had a couple of great players in AJ & Cam Moore. The league as a whole was tougher, but the OOC conference schedule wasn't that much better than today's.

Sure he did, when’s the last time four teams made it from cusa? I would say it was a two bid league so Memphis got in if they slipped. Also it’s funny that those are the two players you chose (R.I.P. Cam), when Davis actually had NBA players here. The last guy who had a shot at the league from here was Chad Frazier (whom some still crap on til this day).

You lost me with the OOC schedule, Davis didn’t played 4-5 D2s like Haase ehsan. Also find it funny when you start to crap on the program you start with Davis but Ehsan who’s the worst coach I’ve seen here you say nothing but good things about.

I never saw either Bartow coach.

Answering your first question - certainly during the Anderson years but 2 or 3 teams made it during the Davis years (with UAB getting an at large 1 year)

In regards to Frazier, it matters not what one does on the court if you don't do things correctly off the court.

There hasn't been much change in OOC scheduling from Davis to Ehsan. Sure Davis might have had 1 or 2 or so bigger name team come in but in the overall scheme of things it is irrelevant.

Davis' years were some pretty good years on the court (mainly due to AJ) but he couldn't help but recruit players with bad grades, etc. along with the Cousins fiasco.

I actually attended more games when Davis was coach than I have since Haase & Ehsan have been coaching. I am more selective on which games I attend due to conflicts.

First question you didn’t answer. We know Davis bubble didn’t burst guess he played 4-5 D2s that year. What big names we brought in of late Auburn and Memphis? Yeah it’s irrelevant because nobody has played as soft a schedule as Haase Ehsan.

Not true, but continue. Chad is still the best player we’ve had in a long time.

AJ wasn’t a top ten player of the Davis era, but was still pretty good. Davis was the coach that fixed APR issues started by Anderson lol. Or it was a better product back when Davis coach but whatever excuse you can find lmaoooooo

RE: Change needs to happen sooner rather than later!
Basically UAB isn't in the SEC and can't throw money around hiring and firing coaches.

The money at UAB comes mainly from big boosters (same as the SEC) however we don't have as many.

Are the boosters satisfied with Ehsan and his progress? If so, then he certainly will remain at UAB.

After putting out a ton of money on football (by the boosters) would they really want to put out extra money right now on basketball?

So we should just focus on what we can do right now to improve the programs via facility upgrades, etc.

And just to remind everyone, MTSU got left out a few years ago with a pretty good RPI in the 30's so you need that extra back door push by those determining who gets the at large bids.

Ok. They we are on the shortlist for an all-sports invite. That’s enlightening.

And, as I said, conference affiliation is not just sports. You want our profile to completely tank? Get us lumped together with Samford, The Citadel, Furman, & Chattanooga. If you think Bham sports fans thought UAB was a joke before...

You really think AJ wasn't a top 10 player in the Davis era? Name 10 players in the Davis era who had more productive careers than he did?

Maybe not if careers lol but overall better players sure start with three with NBA connections. Then find seven more. Not saying AJ wasn’t a good player but we had a lot of talent back then.
