Marreon Jackson' Impact The Past 2 Games
With about 2 minutes to go in last Tuesday's Men's Basketball loss to Central Michigan in which the team did not play well. TK took M. Jackson out of the game and talked to him on the sidelines before he went to the bench. What transpired during that conversation or up until the Akron game 4 days later I don't know. But what has happened since then is this for M. Jackson in the last 2 games against the Zips and the Bobcats:

66 points, 20 of 38 Made Shots, 12 of 21 from 3 Point Range. 13 of 14 from the Free Throw Line, 12 assists.

He has also taken his floor game up several notches by controlling the tempo. I think this has also had a major impact on Luke Knapke's post game as teams have to figure out ways to slow M. Jackson and it has opened it up inside for Knapke who is attacking the rim more aggressively. This is a positive development that if continued, will serve major dividends down the road for the Rockets!

agreed, and another way of saying what I and some others predicted that "this team goes as far as marreon jackson can carry it"

he's the guy who can be the best guy on the court. and when he's on top of his game everyone around him speed up think less and play more instinctively. what's made it really go is that keshaun saunders is making good use of his minutes again. it really keeps the scoring pace up on the perimeter.

we have a short roster. 9 eligible players (with a rs of etherington). 2 true and 2 rs freshmen. the entire bench. we have to stay healthy. avoid multiple player slumps at the same time. only 6 guys score, basically. we need guys with 32 and 25 on any given night.

at least UT basketball feels relevant again. both programs seemed to be crumbling. now both the men's and women's teams look like conference contenders. there's even been good news from the football team.

I suppose an optimist could assume that this is the new normal for Marreon and that he will average 33 points per game the rest of the year, shooting over 50% from the field and on three-pointers. Or you could think that Marreon is an excellent scorer who will average 18 to 20 ppg and who had a fantastic couple of games.

The most important thing is to have a healthy team for the MAC tournament. One year MAC POY Fletcher is injured. Another year Willie Jackson gets injured in pregame warmups. This is the year we need to be at full strength to have a chance to win the tournament.

Last three road games M Jackson has 97 points and we’re 2-1.
Last three home games he has 50 and we’re 1-2.

Not sure what that means but I hope he has a road-type game at home Saturday.

He cost his team by not being smart when dunking the ball and he hurt himself doing so.

When M. Jackson is hot we win and when he's not we don't win. Pretty dicey for team success.

Go Rockets!

Nah, he just needs to be average . And he’s averaging 30 a game lately.
