MyBB Has the extended 3 point line affected AAC teams' offense & defense this season?
Has your team been affected by the extension of the 3 point line to 22 feet and 1 ¾ inches this season?

Has it changed the way your team plays the game on offense? Has scoring and FG% improved or decreased?

Is your team playing more zone defense this season? If so, does it seem to be working?

Do you think that the rule change has made D1 basketball better or worse this season?

.
The extension of the 3 point line was designed to:

"make the lane more available for dribble/drive plays from the perimeter

slow the trend of the 3-point shot becoming too prevalent in men's college basketball by making the shot more challenging, while at the same time keeping the shot an integral part of the game

assisting in offensive spacing by requiring the defense to cover more of the court"

Has this rule change done what it was designed to do?

I think it took about 10 games for our shooters to get the feel for the distance. Even our good shooters, such as Jeriah Horne, were awful to begin the season. Shots were close but always seemed to be a little long or a little short. We still have some awful games, like our 0-17 at Cincinnati, but our guys are a lot more comfortable now.

One of the early tournaments for ucf had like 4 different 3 point lines. Our player stepped on one of the lines. Lost by 1.

A few stats:

..........................ppg 2018-19............ppg 2019-20 (to date)

Houston.............75.3 (opp 61.0)...............75.3 (opp 64.8)
Wichita St..........70.5 (opp 68.7)...............74.9 (opp 64.0)
Memphis.............80.1 (opp 74.4)...............76.8 (opp 62.4)
Memphis.............80.1 (opp 74.4)...............76.8 (opp 68.7)
Temple...............74.7 (opp 71.5)...............67.6 (opp 63.4)
SMU..................72.0 (opp 70.3)...............76.2 (opp 67.3)
Cincy.................71.7 (opp 62.7)...............72.2 (opp 65.1)
UCF...................72.3 (opp 64.5)...............68.7 (opp 65.8)
Tulsa.................71.8 (opp 71.0)...............70.3 (opp 65.0)

average:.............73.6 (opp 68.0)..............72.7 (opp 65.3)

.
These partial numbers indicate that average scoring of these 8 AAC teams has decreased by 0.9 ppg since last season. Opponent scoring has decreased by 2.7 ppg.

I have no way to verify it, but I was watching a game the other day and the announcers commented that we are seeing more turnovers as a result of guys stepping out of bounds to shoot a corner three.

It was happening a ton in the games earlier in the season, and still happens every once in awhile.
