I do not blame Lawson one bit...literally 3 freshman running backs who would likely be ahead of him.
With that logic, I could counter with "Doesn't sound like Lawson thought he was good enough or didn't want to work hard enough to get better". He was slight build so I wonder how he would be used but no matter now.
Hammock's quote about his job to find someone better than the current players and current players job to ensure he doesn't seem to be in play here.

That could be the case. Some of these kids think they’re ready to start right away with no pushback. Especially teams that aren’t winning.
Early signing day is Wednesday - curious if anyone else has a change of heart

RE: 2021 Official Recruiting Thread
When Lawson committed Waylee was just a 2 star that hadn't enrolled at NIU yet, and Antario Brown hadn't committed yet. Can't blame him for wanting to re-evaluate since the situation he thought he was going to has changed. Better than signing, walking onto campus in August and then want to transfer before training camp is over.

Agreed. That room got real crowded so quick I don’t blame any defections.
Waylee going over 100 again has to make everyone feel real good as a fan - and players have to see that.

Waylee may be more of a slot, would like to see him get beat out. Don't get me wrong he's decent, but not sure he is physical enough to carry the load. Want to see starters get beat out we need better, feel same away about many positions. DE,CB, MLB, S,CB,WR There is room for better.

Consider what this offense is trying to do though, they want to be explosive. Waylee is.
The offense at least has a theory of what they are trying to do, if you can’t take it to the house every time you touch the ball you aren’t going to get a lot of run here.
The defense has no philosophy...and that’s concerning.

Josh kreutz, Olin’s son would be nice. You’d have to think he was committed there due in large part to his relationship with Lovie. Probably a pipe dream but id take it.

Waylee is a playmaker. I like him at RB. I want 20 touches a game either running or receiving. He also moves pile. Remember Garrett Wolfe not real big

Waylee had 3 straight games of over 20 carries. Last 2 over 100 yards. He appears to be able to carry the mail. I like the kid.

I’m Gonna sound like a Waylee hater, and I’m not, I think he can be good to very good. But what’s his longest run? He is the fastest guy whenever he’s on the field but where is that showing up? Also, can you recall one, just one run of his, where you were really impressed? He really reminds me of Nettles 2.0. Nettles has big time track speed as well. And he was decent to good. But I didn’t want him as our #1.

Absolutely I can. A lot of his shorter runs (12 yards or so) were because of one great cut and then going. I love that in a back. He stopped being cute and started running towards a seam. To me those are impressive.
When you do that big ones will come.
