Are you this naive? No men’s b-ball HC hire is fully on the AD. The boosters and Board of Trustees have at least equal parts say in the hire.

Just like you don’t credit Jimmy for the Keatts hire, you don’t also get to turn around and rip him for C.B.
Just the opposite for me,you have to give and take. Sounds like he is saying Bass didn't hire CB. Hopefully he lets this play out and not get caught up the moment.

As usual, you don't know jack. At some point it seems you'd realize it and stop spouting opinions on issues you know nothing about.
That is exactly why I am asking you a point blank question,I don't know and you are implying that you do know something. It's not terribly complicated, you either know or you don't and I don't know. If Bass did not hire CB-who did? It can't be both ways.

It's not my job to give you information. Suffice it to say if you don't have personal knowledge of a situation quit spouting off like you do. And very few times have you had personal knowledge. This should be obvious to a grown man, but obviously it isn't.

Hiring and Supervising
The athletic director (AD) hires, supervises and fires coaches and other athletic department employees, which can include office personnel and at least one coach per sport (though one person may coach several sports in different seasons). A large school may have one or more assistant athletic directors and assistant coaches, especially for large sports. The AD sets or approves the job descriptions for each position, ensures that the conditions of the job are met and tries to solve problems and concerns. He talks with coaches to learn of their needs and plans for the season. When necessary, he may work with a coach to improve his performance or problems with a team.

You don't have to do anything big man ,I get it that you want to feel like you have inside knowledge and that makes you the cool guy on the little message board. Don't take things so damn personal-it's not about you -I promise you that 100%.

Thats a job description. Several more people have influence, input and final authority as was stated earlier.

I thought someone was asking for a job description. I know it's different at every school. And depends mostly on the chancellor. It's like being a coach for the Dallas Cowboys vs a coach for the New England Patriots. But I do believe Bass has much more leeway than Merghtens did. Merghtens was a puppet of the powers that be. I'm thinking that the final decision for Bass has to have the blessings of others, but the confidence in his decisions goes a long way.

RE: @ Charleston (Saturday - 4 PM)
Well if they keep winning or playing competitive for the rest of the year, then I would think that they would strongly consider Rob Burke. They will have everyone back next year and will get some more big men help too and are already beating the top teams now and playing competitive. He is making it tough on Bass right now and that's great. We all wanted a competitive team that fights for everything and never quits.

The guys deserve a lot of credit too. We do have excellent young men in our program and it shows. McGrath did a good job of getting good players and good people. You can go a long way if everyone is pulling on the same rope. Burke has found a way to get them to play together and to give the guys confidence. And, you have to give the assistants a lot of credit too.

I must admit that it was a bold move to just let some guys jack up 3's without contesting but it worked for the most part. Once the Hawks get some more help for our Bigs, they won't have to do that you would think.

You are my hero, what a great guy you are. Total respect for you and your boundless knowledge about UNCW basketball, you are the MVP of the message board-congrats.

And you're the wannabe' of the message boards, apparently at several different schools boards. You actually seem to know something about players around the state and take time to watch them play. I don't, which is why I don't pretend I do and end up sounding like a fool. I actually appreciate your insight in that area.

Multiple times you've spewed opinions about people you've never met. And as much as you claim to know about HS prospects, it's amazing you know so little about how college athletic departments work, especially at UNCW. You'd think if you are going to take such strong stances on those departments, you'd take the time to find out. And 33 is exactly right about AD's and their authority at UNCW or any school. They usually don't have complete and total control and may be in a position where they offer an opinion, but don't make the final decision.

But no matter what, all roads lead to Bass for you. Every problem is his fault and every good decision wasn't his. You're consistent about that. You've mentioned fundraising several times on this board. Do you have any clue that ALL fundraising at UNCW is under one umbrella and Bass isn't even involved? Of course you don't. And you'd never take the time to find out. Much easier to spew more ignorance since it's just another chance to take a shot at a guy you've admitted you've never met.

There are several posters here who have a lot more insight than I do and it's great information for all of us. I'm glad they know people to bring it on this board. You just aren't one of them. And even though they have more information than I do, I do have enough to know who's offering facts and who's just running their mouth.
