WBB vs CofC 1/19/20
The Lady Dukes finish the end of their southern road trip today with a 1:00 PM start against CofC in TD Arena in Charleston. CofC started the season on fire but has cooled a bit as of late but it will still be a tough game, especially without KCW (hope she is doing well). Dukes played a sloppy unfocused game Friday against UNCW but still came away with a W. Will need to be on their game today against CofC.

Game is on Flosports and wife and I will be watching and ROOTIN!!

Dukes are up 45-28 at the half. Threes are falling for the Dukes today and they are playing some good D. Moving the ball around well on offense unlike last game against UNCW.

Dukes open it up in the third quarter and lead 67-38 heading into the final frame. Threes are falling today. Kiki having a monster game and Nikki O has seen some minutes and has knocked down a bunch of trees.

I did not realize it was a 1:00 tip so I missed most of the fun but it looks like JMU is having a great day. Thrilled to see Kiki having such a good game and love seeing Raine playing so well - she is really coming into her own. 72-45 with about 6 1/2 minutes to go.

Dukes crush Charleston 87-53. Kiki scores 21 and snags 12 rebounds. They are back at home Friday and Sunday this coming weekend - hope to see a lot of folks in the Convo wearing purple.

Great effort all around by the Dukes. Kiki and Nikki O had excellent games, as did the rest of the Dukes.

Back home next weekend against Hofstra and Northeastern.

Rayne’s play is exciting. Especially thinking about bigger teams we would face if we can advance to the NCAA tournament. We don’t use it much at all, but I think Kayla & Rayne at the same time is our only way to matchup with some teams.

Looked at the box score and WOW! I didn't realize it was a 1 pm tip either. Amazing 3 point shooting, and nice to see such a block party even with Kayla missing. Rayne is shaping up VERY nicely and with some more height coming in next year that will be very helpful. I think Rayne could be even better than we think. Looks like Kiki had a monster afternoon too. Good job, ladies.

RE: WBB vs CofC 1/19/20
Missed the game today, but checking out the box score I see where the Good Gals chucked up 40 3-point attempts. WHOA!

That's one per minute. Made 16 of them. 40% from outside the arc is pretty good. Barrier 4 of 5...Kiki 3 of 4...Oppenheimer 4 of 9.

Benitez attempted 12, making just 3. She has attempted an eye opening 115 3-pt shots, making only 33 of them. That's 28.7%. I think she hurries and forces far too many. In CAA play, she is 9 of 39 - that's 23%.

At the same time, Kamiah Smalls who has a lot of other complimentary skills to her offensive game, has attempted 90 3's on the season, making 38. That's a pretty darn good 42% from outside the arc. She's also 86% from the charity stripe.

Women's basketball under Sean is like Dorothy with the magic slippers. They are big dance, and even at large caliber. They just don't realize what they have or play up to their potential in key games/times. We'll see in March.

Looks to me like it would be a good idea for Coach to train Rayne to replace Kayla. She kind of reminds me of Kayla at that stage anyway, still a little skinny but got the arms for it, and yesterday proves she can block like crazy. The shots will come the more she plays. Devon is not getting the job done inside this year, sad to say. We have height coming in, but the big girls take a year or two to develop.

Aaaand Kiki is Rookie of the Week for the 5th time. If she's not CAA Rookie of the Year there just ain't no justice!

Good move by ESPN... https://espnpressroom.com/us/press-relea...ationally/

Now, let's hope the Dukes achieve one of their team goals and get there.

That seems to be the plan. I just think we need more quality post play if we get to the point where we're playing power programs in the NCAAT. Rayne looks great thus far. Kiki can even mix it up well in the paint, but I know she's listed as more of a guard. To me, Devon seems to be #3 on the post depth chart at this point. Not to say she doesn't provide some great moments, but she's a bit inconsistent right now for whatever reason.

RE: WBB vs CofC 1/19/20
IMNSHO, the reason Devon is inconsistent is the extra poundage she's dragging this year. The Mr. and I both gasped in disbelief when we saw her at the pre-game shoot around before the first game. She has to be at least 20 lbs. heavier than last year, and she's always been a big girl. I think it's really hurting her play. She's slower down the court, out of breath sooner, and not able to jump as well.
