Into the second half, when their first half lead disappeared, it was like here we go again. The rally and close out may turn this MAC season around. Not out of the woods but at least they have come across a path.

Vegas absolutely has to hate Rocket revenue sports. CMU comes into Savage and beats you? You guys respond by going to Akron and win! Your football team beats a lot the good conference teams but loses to NIU, BGSU and lays an egg vs. Central. If I were a betting man, you guys would have cost me a bunch of $.

Great win nevertheless.

RE: UT Men @Akron
best game of the year since @marshall and vs a better team. high level game on both ends. that's what i've been saying about this team. if they make open jump shots and avoid silly turnovers they are capable of beating everyone in the MAC. today was the first time i sensed a real will to win. marreon just made sure we didn't lose and willie who started strong, then made some bonehead plays to start the second half, came up clutch down the stretch too. saunders seems to have finally surmounted the freshman wall and is playing more to his strengths. alderson still a puzzle. littleson started slow but hit some clutch shots for a change. hope the injury is not serious. we need his defense. on a side not maranka is so close to being good. i know it's gonna be a year or two before we really see it but this kid is gonna make some hihglight plays before he's done at UT

“That was a high level game,” Groce said “Obviously, if you were someone who didn’t care who won or lost the game, that was fairly enjoyable watching that type of basketball and kids having the courage on both teams to make those types of plays. Some of the shot-making by both teams was ridiculous.”

This quote boggles my mind

Kowalczyk said. “We are going to be in a lot of these games and lately we haven't been able to finish these games. Maybe it's too many minutes, but I don't see that changing with what we have to work with. The answer is not putting somebody else in. That's not the answer.”

This is why you play more guys in the non conference games. Get them experience and build them for later in the year. We have two big guys out and that hurts but these young guys might contribute better with more exposure throughout the year

For a couple minutes in the middle of the 1st half the Rockets had a lineup with Knapke and Maranka on the floor together. Rockets were in a 2 - 3 zone but the Zips got hot from the perimeter and hit a few 3s vs the Rockets big lineup.

Excellent, gut check performance by the Rockets who answered every run by the Zips with their own runs! They could have packed it in after Akron jumped them at the beginning of the 2nd Half but showed some fight by punching back led by the "Jackson 2". Big win against a team we only play once this seaon which could pay dividends down the road for MAC Tournament Seeding purposes. Same scenario coming up Tuesday night against Ohio U in Athens as we only play the Bobcats once this season as well. If we can pull off back to back road wins, it could provide some momentum heading into 2 straight huge home games against contenders BG and Kent St.
