And? That's not an excuse for why UT still plays in the dump that they do. Central Catholic High School built a beautiful, modernized, brick stadium right here in the good 'ole Toledo climate for $2.5 million (donated by an alum).

If this is going to be yet another season of losing by 14 runs to schools like East Tennessee State, can we please just scrap the program and avoid continued embarrassment and despair to the University?! I just don't get how the baseball program has always been so incredibly bad. Anyone have an answer?

The previous coach just did not have the energy or interest in doing the things that need to be done. The new coach did all the work for the improvements and raised the money himself. I think this new coach brings promise to this program. Let’s give this guy a chance and show him support

If we recruit pretty geographically in football and basketball I don't think that has always been the case in baseball. Just this year there seems to have been more emphasis in getting players from JCs in California and Florida. Kent has always been very competitive in baseball and their roster is a lot more geographically diversified than ours. I did play baseball for awhile at UT and I definitely don't want to see the sport dropped.

Central Catholic? You talking the one at the school or the one so far away a poor kid would have to jack a car to get there? Neither would exist without Mercy Hospital kicking in. If Mercy (or Delp for that matter) wants to give a million to the University for a baseball facility, I don't think it would be refused.

I agree absolutely, any coach going that extra mile should be recognized for their potential. It would be a drab university that threw that effort under the bus.

But I really have to question...If East Tennessee State can build a baseball stadium like the one below...why can't UT? That stadium is nice, I too hope we can get something similar. I'd also like to see investment in ice hockey but... many/most of baseball team's scholarships are endowed by some very generous alums. That money is dedicated for baseball use only. I don't know how we would eliminate the sport even if we wanted to.
