What I really appreciated about guys like Melvin and Ward, as a fan you never had to worry about their attitudes, true gamers

Players don’t make personnel decisions, but if they did, safety Jimmie Ward would have lobbied to acquire a particular signal-caller right away.

“Jimmy Garoppolo used to be sitting behind Tom Brady, I was like, man, if we can get Jimmy Garoppolo, if someone can just get Jimmy Garoppolo over here, we’d have a quarterback,” Ward said Tuesday. “I used to think that the whole time.”

I love Melvin. At NIU and in the pros.

I feel like he got unfairly blamed for the Ravens playoff loss against the Patriots his second year. I get that Gronk torched him... But was it fair to line up an UDFA corner on an All Universe Tight End?

Anyway he learned from it and has had a decent career since

Who's attitude did you worry about?? In the last 9 years I can think of maybe three players at most who's attitude's were ever questioned. And they were all top flight players.

No reason to go there and name names....there haven't been been many but there are some of those guys everywhere. NIU hasn't had very many, agreed.

RE: Rooting for Jimmie Ward
Did Jimmie screw up on the 3rd and 15? It may have been a breakdown in coverage that Hill got behind everyone but Ward, but it looked like Jimmie guessed Post and Hill went corner. Once Ward had to spin 360 it was all over. No way should a safety have to deal with Hill one on one, but that play was probably the ball game.

I wouldn't think so. I think Hill got past his QB and Ward picked up the zone. No good DC would match a safety on WR1 one on one.

He got beat. Maybe, maybe he opened hips early, but when a 4.2 Rocket is coming at you there are not many options and the ones you have are all bad. BTW, Mahomes threw an awful ball on that play should have been 6.

RE: Rooting for Jimmie Ward
Jimmy got beat. Tough cover on Hill with a two-way go. Maybe, Maybe the corner should've squeezed under and not trailed the deep in route but he likely sees Hill stem the route to the inside and figures the Safety should have him.

Jimmy got impatient (speed can do that to you sometimes). He was in really good shape as he starts to square shoulder weave over top of Hill. He should've stayed in the weave a tad bit longer. Jimmy also takes his eyes from Hill to the QB because he's getting impatient and he starts to slightly drift. He opens with about 7 yards of cushion between him and Hill because he thought he was running out of time. That's too much open space and leaves him vulnerable to the double move. Great route by Hill though.

RE: Rooting for Jimmie Ward
It did seem like Jimmie may have guessed wrong but given Hills speed ... tough... that said , it did look like #41 chased Watkins across the field instead of staying home and covering up the out route potential... the PI on Kelce was bad too...

I still don’t think either of those plays killed SF .. it was the inability to stay committed to the run in the 4th quarter. And Jimmy G had a bad 4th too

On a positive note, Jimmie was the game's leading tackler with 8 solo tackles and 2 assists. Next best at 6 and 1 was one of the Chiefs' corners. Not bad.

Richard Sherman did him no favors either. Jimmy had a decent game. Can’t let Mahomes convert a prayer on 3 and 15 though.
