What does Bass have to do with this? He is not the coach and he has no clue how this might turn out in the long run. I would put the odds at Burke getting the job at very slim. I also don't see him being the lone ranger in this decision.

You criticized him for McGrath hire not working out. Then you criticized him for letting McGrath go and said he should lose his job over it. Now that it looks like the move is working out and Bass picked Burke over the other coaches, now you have a problem with Burke. And if Burke does a 180 for thus program and gets us back on track, it will have been a brilliant move by Bass and McGrath will be forgotten. You have an obvious problem with Bass and this is making him look good. Im sure you cant stand it because at one point people mistakenly cared about your opinion.

I agree it would be a great move if it works out but pump the brakes a little bit here. He is 1-1 and it looks good but you also know how hard it is win games in college basketball. At this point he is making his own argument to be considered and I hope it works for him, I also read a ton of stuff on here about how this team/roster is not good enough to win so I guess we shall see. I have no clue which way it might go at this point.

I was at the game last night and it was a great win against a well coached NE team who had a player go off with a epic performance. He made some shots most NBA players would not even take but he made them. It was a really good win for UNCW.

Total smartass comment -you could grow up a little bit and I might take you serious. We are all in the same boat here.

Shame on whoever Ron Smith is, questioning Burke’s character is idiotic. It gets tiring seeing posts taking shots at someone personally. Just makes you look like an absolute fool. Find something better to do with your time.

Coaches help put players in a position to win games. Otherwise why hire a HC at all?

Yet you wanted to give CB a pass during the majority of an 11-game losing streak. Can't have it both ways here.

RE: Rob Burke
A little consistency would make us take you seriously, Mullet. You're all over the place. In your world, good coaches are bad, bad coaches are good depending on your personal feelings. It's the AD's fault when something goes wrong, and never a credit to the AD when things go right.

And while you pretend to be well-connected to the UNCW community it's been proven to be pretty clear you're not.

Get over yourself.

RE: Rob Burke
I am not well connected to UNCW basketball at all and don't pretend to be now. I am a season ticket holder now and have been for the better part of the last 30 years. I don't think CB was given a fair shake but he's gone and it's on to the next guy. I was consistent with CB and his chances here but at the end of the day-you gotta win and he did not.
Burke is a guy with a chance and I am more than willing to pull for him but it's a up hill battle IMO. He has a good win under his belt and has won the crowd over with his energy. Not sure how you can be much more supportive than that. I am also allowed to wonder how this works in the long haul.

You can wonder it all you want and that's fine. I'm just going to enjoy the 10 remaining league games + CAA Tournament, and hope Burke, like he said in his own words, makes the decision very difficult for Jimmy. It would be a very good "problem" to have.

Good for you and I am pulling for the team to win games.

At least his ridiculous statements, ignorance, hate for Bass and general douchebaggery would make sense. There's no excuse now.

I have no hate for Bass as I don't know him but I don't have to like how he does his job at all. For the record I don't really give a damn about guys like you either. Just a sad little man trying to live it through mid major basketball I guess.

If results so far dont prove the importance of a head coach, nothing will. What seemed like an easy win for everyone going forward, now appears to at least have a shadow of a doubt cast over it. His antics already look the part of Bruiser in his heyday, except it appears he can coach beyond just defense. His energy seems much more positive as opposed to Bruiser who was negative energy, especially towards the officials.

We have seen this show before too Dan, you think we'd know. KK took a terrible team the year before and won 20 games with it. Coaching matters, especially at this leevel

RE: Rob Burke
Antics aside, I feel like Burke is more prepared to finish this year out than CB. His main advantage is his head coaching experience at SMC and all the other stops he has made along the way. His background is similiar to Keatts, when you are coach at a JC you are always recruiting and some years he is getting better recruits than we would be. Not sold on his future but maybe there is a place on staff with new coach or this helps him move up some. I feel he wants success for UNCW. It was a genius move to have 2000 team come into locker room 10 minutes before game to talk to the team
