RE: Western Kentucky
Maybe we hand the keys to Wade and have Green be the secondary scoring option. He seemed to thrive more in that role last year...Was Alfis supposed to be a good shooter before coming here? I don't think I've seen him make a shot all year (I'm sure he had)...Curry and Wade were awesome getting to the basket. A better coach might have put a stop to it, but WKU kept letting them drive right to the basket...So perhaps the future looks bright, but right now we aren't any good - for a variety of reasons. We're gonna lose a lot more games this season.

The problem with that approach is that it only works against undersized teams. Wade can be dominant around the basket if the opposing bigs are small, and Curry can get to the rim whenever he wants, but can't finish like he did last night against bigger teams. We match up really well with teams that play small ball and don't have any shot blockers, we are in a world of trouble on the offensive end when we play bigger teams. If you go back and look, you will see that Wade an Curry have had success against every smaller team we have played, and they get virtually shut out against the bigger teams.

I can partially answer your question. Alfis was an awful shooter when he came here. I say that because the summer he arrived I stopped by the practice facility a couple of times just to see if I could spot any players working out. Sure enough both times I saw Aaron Carver and he was working out with Alfis. At the time I didn’t know who Alfis was and quite honestly I thought he was just a college buddy of Carver that was about his size so maybe Carver just asked him to work out with him. When the season started I realized it was Alfis. Believe it or not his shot looks much improved. Going forward if we have to rely on Alfis for 20 minutes a game we are in bigger trouble than I imagined.

Sucks to blow the lead, but this will send this team in one of two directions. I was really surprised at how well we played last night with two of our best shooters doing basically nothing. The team is in a funk, and we will see if this loss pulls them closer together, or if it destroys them. I have a feeling this could be the turning point in the season. Tough one with Marshall, but I am optimistic that things turn for the better after Saturday. I'm hoping that this game helped us find an identity. We will see which path these guys choose.

Worried about the leadership of this team. Blowing the lead at UTSA made us a better team because we had legit leaders. Please let Jason and Malik take control of this team. We need them to step up as leaders!

They looked sad, dumbfounded and depressed after the game. JJ included, and especially Wade.

Didn’t we have a similar experience last year at UTSA ? We came back as a better team. I was impressed with how we came out and fought last night as well. Hopefully we can bounce back with a win tomorrow. One thing for sure, WKY is no great team this year. If we can somehow get into the top 4 anything could happen in this crappy league.

We should have lined up in a straight line along the edge of the lane and all go in different directions causing WKY to scramble.

He shouldn’t even be in the game in an obvious foul situation.

He’s an awful free throw shooter there is no reason for him to be in there.

It was awful coaching. Period.

I am holding on to the same hope. Although the difference between the UTSA and Western games are we truly lost the UTSA game last year, but the Western game was influenced by the refs. And I’m still ticked about it - went to bed last night pissed and woke up this morning pissed. I’m hoping X wakes up tomorrow and starting playing to his potential against Marshall. We would have won the game easily yesterday if X played to his potential.
