RE: Cord cutters I need some advice!!!
sling is the cheapest at $25/month (they also give free streaming device when you sign up, and a free HD antenna for local channels when you pretend to cancel.)

YouTubeTV is the best and most comprehensive. $50/month isn't necessarily cheaper than cable, but you have the freedom to cancel anytime.

Tried both and didn't have any technical problem with either. Worked fine as intended.

I want the sports, local, I have kids so need the cartoon stuff, the Discovery, HGTV channels. Basically what comes standard with satellite. Currently paying $110 for satellite, YoutubeTv is $59 and seems to have everything. I also have Amazon Prime and ESPN+ already.
If you are a paid member of Jags Jungle 247 it now includes CBS All Access . . . at least Arkansas State's does.

I'm pretty happy with HULU TV except I understand the price is going up.

I haven’t been to jagsjungle in a few years. They kept changing carriers for it and, in my opinion, was harder to navigate and keep up with the threads you wanted to stay with. So I’m not a member there.

Come by some time. JagsJungle has been on 247Sports now for several years now and the boards have been updated and have a ton of new features.

Best part of streaming vs satellite, when my iPad gets the ESPN jingle and tells me it’s tip-off time. The Jags get turned on to the big TV like I’m changing channels.

We need this win over GaSt, keep the momentum going.

I have had none since 2015. I always thought that I would add an internet TV service but never have; only netflix and hulu. I don't miss it. Rural mountains so no on air regular tv either; that garbage isn't missed at all.

I have Hulu, ESPN+, Netflix and Amazon Prime (for online purchasing but video comes included and has some great programing). I haven't missed cable/satellite at all. I started out with SlingTV and it was fine also but navigating Hulu is easier and if you have the upgraded version for live streaming then the video library shows are commercial free.

RE: Cord cutters I need some advice!!!
I recently cut the cord after having Dish for 20 years. I don't miss it at all! I went with Hulu+, Espn+ and already had Netfilx. Using my Roku smart TV I get as much TV as my family watched on Dish for less than 1/2 the price although Hulu just had a price increase. One thing about it though is I have 100 mbps down on my internet service and I've been told that much less than that will cause issues with live streaming but I don't know that for sure. I would also recommend a very good dual band wireless router if you go this route.

I just paused Hulu TV for a couple months after the NC game. OTA and internet is plenty - Amazon prime and netflix if i get really bored/something good is on there. MLB.TV in the spring/summer.

I've cut the internet cord.

I now have a satellite. Hundreds of channels. Excellent picture. No buffering. It's a TV junkie's dream. No more settling for less at my house.

Absolutely Love it.

I’m looking at YoutubeTV, it seems to have all the channels as well as local channels. This is the first time I’ve seriously looked at it so I’m gathering info.

It's been awhile, but the landscape has changed since OP. For example, PS Vue is no more and they were one of the better options.

If sports is most important .... YouTubeTV. YouTubeTV comes with 3 simultaneous streams. This may be inadequate for a single household though if you have a "Catholic attitude" towards kids. If however you're more of a "we're watching one thing in the den or one thing in the bedroom" kinda household, you can share the account with family in the area and split the costs 50/50. This is where the real attractive price point is for me, but that's in part because Charter sent the cost of unbundled internet skyrocketing to $70/mo because they know you're getting TV from streaming. (I don't know how this hasn't been sued into oblivion yet for anti-competitive reasons.) Expect similar price hikes from your ISP if they're in the TV business and you're not giving it to them.

If sports is most important AND you're only interested in teams owned by Fuhrer Mickey Mouse ... whenever Disney finally offers a Disney+/ESPN+/Hulu LIVE bundle that will be the best option. They don't offer that bundle right now, they instead sneakily offer one with regular Hulu (you can't skip the ads, there aren't as many channels, etc).

You might also consider FuboTV (no ESPN channels) or SlingTV (few locals, less sports).

Don't forget OTA if you're near a major metro. This isn't your grandfather's OTA ... the quality is high and the channel numbers are going up up up. I'm in a Top 50 media market and receive over 45 channels, admittedly about 12 of which are variations of PBS.

Another option for local channels may be with Locast.org, a non-profit organization which retransmits local channels over the internet. It is "free". For free, there is a nag message about every 15 minutes. The nag message is disabled if you make a $5.00 donation plus $.50 service fee donation every month. It is great if you live in one of the 16 markets, especially if there is something between you and the tower that messes up the signal. They are currently growing. 12 markets were served when I first starting using Locast a few months ago. They added 4 more markets since then and are looking to add more. Depending on how lawsuits conclude, Locast may or not be short lived. The major networks are currently sueing Locast. Locast has countersued the major networks.

I use Sling TV with Sling Blue + Sling Orange + Total TV Deal for $59.98. The Total TV Deal gives me a discounted price for 50 hours of DVR plus the Sports Extra package plus a ton of other extras packages to keep the wife happy. About the only sports I miss are BTN (used to have that), CBSSports, and FoxSports. I also don't get the Fox regional channels. Except for ESPN+, I get all the ESPN channels including ESPN3, SECNetwork, SEC+, and the Longhorn Network. In addition, I get FS1, FS2, PAC12 Network, ACCN, ACCNX, NFL, NFL Redzone, MLB, NHL, Stadium, BEIN, Golf Channel, Tennis Channel, and a bunch I am probably forgetting. I subscribe to ESPN+ separately.

For about 1/3 of the cost, the selection gets me close to what I had with an AT&T UVerse U450 package I had before moving. I know I probably have a lot more channels than the typical cord cutter. The nice thing is that I can use the packages to drop channels I only watch part of the year with no extra fees to drop. I can then add the packages back when I want to with no extra fees.

I'm happy with Sling because of the flexibility. I'm primarily a football and basketball fan. I drop a lot of stuff I am carrying now during the slack parts of the year keeping only Sling Blue. That gets me down to $25.00 per month.

RE: Cord cutters I need some advice!!!
I hope we get to the point where basic cable simply becomes OTA, but I would really want for some reform of OTA broadcasting restrictions as it would make it impossible to air some stand up comedy and probably even most horror movies. There's a pretty duh path for a lot of content to go from cable to OTA given the ability for digital carriers to offer LOTS of subchannels:

ESPN family -> ABC OTA Network
CSS CSSN (Comcast/Charter) -> NBC OTA Network
CBS SN -> CBS OTA Network
NBC SN, Golf Channel -> NBC OTA Network
Fox Sports Regional Networks, Tennis Channel -> Sinclair owned OTA network (various)
BTN -> FOX OTA Network

Well .... everybody except the Pac-12 Network that is. 03-lmfao

If you want to keep your local channels. Have all the sports you can ask for and have unlimited DVR. YouTubeTV is the way to go. I have had it for almost a year, and am kicking myself to this day, why I hung on to cable for so long. I am getting better services for less then half the price.

RE: Cord cutters I need some advice!!!
we just returned all our set top boxes except one and stream everything to our other tv's using roku sticks. we have spectrum 100mbs internet and the sliver tv package. the spectrum app is available for free on the rokus so we can stream everything that is on spectrum to all our tv's just no dvr's. the final piece for me is going to be some kind of ota/dvr hub to run everything thru so I can drop the locals and save a few more bucks there.

TIVO has quality OTA DVRs. Their apps are limited though, i.e. no spectrum app
