TRUE.
Blacksburg is also a bit of a shock if you are a black kid from the flatlands. It's really Highland/Ulster Scot, and German white so any kid from below about 600' in elevation is going to notice not just a ethnicity difference, but a real culture and food difference to go along with the many Confederate flags that are not displayed as a symbol of racial animus but more an homage to the Dukes of Hazzard and general anti-government sentiment.
Although I spent a number of years there, I never found "old black lady" cooking that made me feel like I was home, never found Eastern or Lexington BarBQue, and didn't even find the quasi-Plantations where ultra rich white folk ran the world. It was sort of like a white mill town like the kind you find in foothills of NC, but blander. And a big chunk of the students were from NJ, Pa, and MD.

RE: Fuente en Fuego
OK, here's the first thing I want VT to do if Fuente leaves...
Immediately ask Tennessee permission to interview Jeremy Pruitt, and ask UVA permission to speak to Bronco Mendenhall. Both of those guys were paid less than Fuente this year, and I'd like to see their schools give them both big fat raises (to prevent them from spending more on assistants).
That said, I'd consider hiring Mendenhall...

RE: Fuente en Fuego
So how long until the Hokies join me in the Fuente skeptics club? Am I the charter member of that club on this board? Granted I got to see the futility against Paul Johnson even when his roster was in shambles at the end, so I had an advantage.

If Fuente leaves I hop the folks in Blacksburg know this man is rested up, recharged, and ready to get back in the game:

Picture fail, is that Tommy Bowden?
Would VT be willing to get Hugh Freeze?

It's only a fail if you know nothing about college football.

I was in Boone yesterday. It was a nice windy 50 + day.

When the Moravians came to Boone they thought they found heaven, then wind started to blow. Sponengburg then moved everyone to Winston Salem.

RE: Fuente en Fuego
Well, I guess that settles it. We'll see what happens in 2020 with an experienced team returning 19 starters. It's now or never for Fuente.

Sorry Hookies, Petrino is now off the market. He just took the job at Missouri St.
Seriously though I think DawgNBama gave two excellent suggestions. Clawson is a solid coach & knows the ACC, I think he would be a good fit at VT. Also, if you can win at IU you have to be a great coach.
Who’s going to win the Venebles lottery?

Venebles isn't going anywhere any time soon. Why would he? He is coaching a top 5 D more often than not and Clemson is poised to be relevant for the next decade or more. Job security is really good when you get to a certain age.

Love the small city of Radford...I stay there quite often on trips from FL <-->NY
