Strong. I like the balance of leagues. Was a fine year overall for the G5.

And 2 military academies. Army had a good season last year and fell below expectations this season. It’s been good for the academies! I’m impressed with UCF - to lose the players they did and still finish ranked says a lot.

Conference ooc win % vs. FBS
The order corresponds exactly with the number of
ranked teams by conference-Big 10-6, SEC-5, AAC-4, Big 12-3, Pac 12-2, MWC-2, ACC-1, SB-1, Ind-1
BIG 10 6 34 13 72.34%
SEC 5 35 16 68.63%
AAC 4 28 17 62.22%
BIG 12 3 16 11 59.26%
PAC 12 2 20 15 57.14%
MWC 2 23 21 52.27%
ACC 1 26 26 50.00%
SUN BELT 1 15 20 42.86%
IND 1 22 35 38.60%
USA 15 36 29.41%
MAC 10 34 22.73%

I 'hate' UCF but still was glad to see them finish top 25. IMO they were a good team unfairly written off after the early losses.
Memphis was fortunate not to have to play them.

RE: G5 Has 7 in Final AP Top 25
I think for a good G5 it helps to be in G5 to finish ranked.as you can rack up 9 or more wins easier.
I doubt most of those 7 finish ranked if they played in P5 conferences. Navy probably goes 6-6 in the SEC or B1G. Most others as well.

Yeah no way Cincinnati or Memphis finishes with 10 wins if they played Pitt's schedule in the ACC: Virginia, Duke, Syracuse, Miami FL, Georgia Tech, North Carolina, Virginia Tech and BC...
well... then again maybe they would..

Indiana, Kentucky, & Tennessee went 8-5 in the B1G & SEC. Very little doubt all 7 G5 teams would go at least 8-5 with the same schedules.

Well since the ACC was a borderline G5 conference this year, you are probably right. So I should have limited my claim to the 4 actual "P" conferences this year. Then again I did use the B1G and SEC as my examples.

Using Massey's matchup widget, I put in Florida's SEC schedule home and away for Navy. 5-3.
Navy's Army, Air Force, ND schedule isn't changing regardless of conference home, so Massey has 8-4 for Navy in the SEC East.

AAC has 4 ranked, more than the rest of the G4 combined. Also more than the ACC and PAC-12 combined. P6 on the field.

LOL, the G5 has 7.
No the AAC has 4, that is the whole reason the G5 has 7 and not less.
AAC 4, the rest of the G4 3 total.

Now that the data points are all in, I have to admit... ACC football was bad this year. Bad in the regular season. Bad in the bowl games. 2020 season can't come soon enough!

#20 to #30 were interchangeable, but I wouldn't put FAU and SDSU in the top 30. SDSU is 31 in AP (FAU was 27).

If you had been told two military academies would finish the year in the top 25, you'd have lost an awful lot of money betting that one of them would have been Army.
