Jim Brown CFB GOAT
Never won the Heisman

Never saw him play live but his feats were legendary

He is also considered one of the greatest Lacrosse players of all time

Could've been drafted into the NBA too and make the Olympics.

If we're going greatest all-around athlete... Jim Thorpe

If we're going strongest power back... Earl Campbell

If we're picking teams... I'll take Barry Sanders!

Also, Adrian Peterson in his prime was pretty powerful.

Brown is probably the NFL GOAT, but i do not think his college accomplishments enough to merit that.

I saw him play in the last couple of years of his pro career on television only. He was no doubt a great athlete in an under-payed and rougher era of the sport.

Herschel Walker was the strongest back I ever saw play in person. He enjoyed running over defensive backs and I've never seen any back who played as hard as he did when seriously injured.

Bo Jackson was a freak athlete. He once broad jumped a VW Beetle while at Auburn. He may have rivaled Jim Brown for all around athlete. He ran track, played baseball and football while at Auburn but didn't play basketball because it overlapped both football and baseball.

Earl Campbell was a bruiser and for 4 or 5 years there was nobody more likely to make that yardage on his own effort alone.

But only one of those starred in a movie besides Jim Brown who all failed to mention was one of the Dirty Dozen! Bo Jackson was a prison guard in a Grisham movie.

I think efforts like these are pointless especially when votes are concerned.

I think I saw all of those guys play either in person in college or on the tube in the Pros except for Red Grange and Jim Thorpe. It's just hard to compare athletes from different eras.

But in the 80's watching Herschel and Bo was extremely special.

Think there was a guy who played for USC and had some big roles in movies. He was a fast runner. Made some good time through airports. Not very fast driving down the freeway though.

Most boring car chase ever! And they interrupted the Rockets NBA championship game 5 for that!

Yeah, but he wasn't as good of an actor as Jim Brown. Brown could actually play a character, not as well as Woody Strode, but Strode was a solid actor. The other guy you speak of only ever played himself. And Anita Bryant never really sang about him.

The only school with 2 players in the top 10: not Ohio State, not Alabama, not Notre Dame... but the University of Illinois! Red Grange at #6 and Dick Butkus at #8.

Dont forget that he played in Roots, as the father of Kunta Kinte's love interest before he was taken.

If the USC guy didn't do what he did, do you think he would have cracked the top 11?

Easily. OJ arguably was #1. Right up there with the best.

IMO too many extaneous things like NFL and character taint this list.

Cuse had two in Top 15
#1 Jim Brown
#15 Ernie Davis

We will never know how great Ernie Davis would be.

I don't know, he's arguably not even the best USC running back ever. It's pretty close between OJ and Marcus Allen.

I think he is, but still, that's kind of like saying "I don't know if Jabbar was the greatest center ever, he's arguably not even the best Lakers center. It's pretty close between him and Shaq and Wilt".

Well duh, because Shaq and Wilt are very strong "GOAT center" candidates themselves, just like Marcus is as a college RB.

Really getting off topic to talk about NBA players -- but there's NFW that Shaq and Wilt were as good as Kareem.

IMO, Kareem is the NBA GOAT, even over Jordan. When he was at his best in the 1970s he was just a force of nature. Plus he's also the GOAT college and high school player as well, just the best basketball player who has ever lived.

Still, Shaq and Wilt were awfully great players so it's not like comparing them is unreasonable.

Yes. Jim Brown there because of NFL.

And Doug Flutie #28??? Not sure he really should even make the list. Didn't see Colt McCoy at all who was the most accurate passer in history until Joe Burrow passed him this year. (edit-not true. Burrows slow first quarter means Colt McCoy is still the most accurate passer 76.7%, Burrow was 76.3).

Dick Butkus #8, but Tommy Nobis only #54? Nobis played for the Falcons in the NFL who nobody watched.

Wilt vs. Kareem is defintely arguable. 100 points in a game?
