They got to elect the speaker then, right? My comment was about Harry Reid...a democrat...who I really didn't care for...so I would have preferred another democrat be the speaker. Was I supposed to want a Republican like this clown now, McConnell, to be speaker? Being a liberal, of course you know the preference. So, good fail there.

Second, you do realize that not all states makes you declare a party affiliation, right? When I lived in Ohio, I had to declare to be able to vote in that party's primary. So the last time I had to register (many years ago when I lived in Ohio) I registered as a Republican so I could vote against the front runner Republican I didn't much care for. I live in Michigan now which has an open primary...I just tell them which ballot I want when I go to vote.
