RE: Our Fate Is Tied To Dandridge
Dandridge's biggest problem is that he is behind because of the amount of missed time he had. It will probably take him longer maybe into late February or early March to get there. He's really lost a lot of time on defense which is to be expected.

Definitely. But yesterday he was moving much more fluidly. He at least appears to be getting through the first part which is just getting back into game shape. His first couple of games he looked like he had concrete blocks for shoes but I really thought yesterday he looked much smoother and more comfortable roaming around the court.

Yeah, but he was still slow to rotate on defense. That will come. Rebounding is pretty good. He can run a pick and roll but that still needs a little work. I would like to see what he could do if we post him up.

Agree. He looked better yesterday than at any time this year.

Two things this team needs. First one is the obvious one, stop turning it over. Would've beat USF going away if cut the turnovers in half. Second one is getting Boogie going. If they can do both those things this team can make a run to the Final 4.

It's nice to see him play with such aggression. That body check (foul) was a thing of beauty.

Yeah, we really need Boogie.

Malcolm looked like a fly flew into him and that defender looked like he hit a brick wall! 05-mafia

Yeah, we really need Boogie.

We do and I just keep waiting every game for him to break out. He had one really good game early on and I thought that was his coming out party. IMO he needs to completely forget about the three ball and focus on getting to the rim and mid-range. Get that part of his game going and then expand backward. He appears to be trying to get the three pointer going and then working his way in. To me that is backwards for a struggling offensive player.

This is where I disagree...

He should know what is expected of him on defense. It wasn't like he wasn't at practice...He was there for every session. He should understand the concepts.

Can he do what Lance and Precious can when they switch...Absolutely not? His instincts say stay in the paint as he is a more traditional big man.

That is what he is going to have to overcome or they need to start hedging on the 1-5 screen when he is in the game and allow him to get back to his man. Expecting Malcolm to have a chance to guard a scorer on the perimeter is unrealistic.

It should be a very quick hedge, just long enough for our guard to get around the screen, then he can sag off of his man, who isn't a threat from out there anyway. He will also be in a position to prevent either player from driving to the basket.

RE: Our Fate Is Tied To Dandridge
We need any and all of these things, but to me we just need someone to be "the man". Doesn't mean he has to be the leading scorer, just the guy who is in charge, a calming, steady influence who makes good decisions, makes plays at crunch time, all the things the team captain should do.

It was Wiseman. it was his team, and everyone knew it. With him gone I thought it would be Alo, it still may be, it could DJ, could be Harris.. just somebody who everyone else depends on. i don't see precious doing that, he has trouble with the ball in his hands.

if anyone steps up, we could be very good. If not....probably continued chaos.

It was never going to be Wiseman, not in a million years. He would have been our best player, but he never seemed to be a leader (now the proof is in the pudding) and he wasn't especially vocal or aggressive.

Precious was always going to be the leader by the way he plays and Lomax would have been just as much if Wiseman was on the roster. Maybe LQ has that potential down the road. The team is so young, you can't really tell.

RE: Our Fate Is Tied To Dandridge
Dandridge seems to be the only one in the group of him, Maurice and Lance that has the potential to be the Big Man in the middle. Maurice has no desire to work hard in the lane and I am beginning to see why Lance played little at Louisville.

With Wiseman, we needed Dandridge to be a contributor to be a Final Four team. Now we need him to be a Sweet 16 team.

We have possessions with most of them without a single player in the lane. You can't run an offense like that. IF Dandridge can be a bit of a threat and get us 8 and 8, we can be good. If he can't we won't. He is a good passer and he makes a super high percentage of his shots. He would open things up for our guys outside and make everyone better.

It isn't fair to put it on him and if he can't, he can't and he shouldn't be blamed. This is how I see us.

I agree that we need Dandridge to be good. I don't see any way we're getting 8 points, 8 boards from him. He hasn't achieved either in any game, thus far.

In the future, I could see Baugh being that leader as well.

8 and 8 from a freshman center would be phenomenal. But that is not going to happen. Realistically, I think we can expect 4 and 4 or 6 and 5 from Malcolm. But I think that is all we need from him. That and come in and enforce the paint some, put a few guys on their back and what not.
