He'll do fine at UT. This kinda reminds me of Chris Chioza's recruitment. He was too short so we laid off of him. Now he's in the NBA. Penny wii get good players. He'll improve every year as a coach. Money was involved with Tony Harris, chances are good that's the case with KC. Who knows ... Who cares.

At Tennessee, he really has no competition. At Memphis, he will have competition.

He better get used to losing at Tennessee.

This is Tennessee's 4th 5 star guard in the last 2 years.

Kentucky keeps getting a bunch of 5 stars under Calipari. YET, they seem to only get one title.

It's NOT about the stars only, but, the coach.

Nah, it's always been hard for us to get private school Memphis kids to come to Memphis. All of their buddies talk bad about Memphis and usually go to SEC schools. Thank God, Cisse wasn't here long enough for that to happen.

Same at White Station. And the coaches there usually don't help either.

Will Barnes even coach from the sideline? He's in that "at risk" age group.

You can knock Cal...But he has had a ton of success with very young teams. He has had the same success at UK in 10 years as we have had in our entire history.

Barnes was always a good recruiter. He had Kevin Durant at Texas and got blown out in the 2nd round of the NCAA tourney.

Coach Penny will start having success, no doubt. But, how many college HC's can say, they played in the NBA and is a legend and played against MJ?! Well, beside Coach Penny.....

We have a 5-11 guard for the next two years, no drama.

Coming off the bench. Hardaway likes tall point guards, I don't have any idea why. Short point guards can be very successful, but basketball is easier...taller.

Dale Brown made it in so I guess Barnes could as well since winning a championship isn't a requirement.

You said it is the coach...

I would say that Coach K is one of the greats. The point is it is hard to win with 5* freshmen...Barnes will not be trying to do that.

To echo your point, what percentage of Briarcrest grads (I know that Kennedy won't graduate from Briarcrest) go to UofM? So, why would we expect the basketball players to be any different?

You can justify it all you like, but your statement was still stupid and ill-informed. I hate UT as well, but your statement is simply not true.

I bet this keeps the series going now !!! We need to beat them in Nashville this year and hopefully play them in Memphis next year. After all, Kennedy will want to play in front of his home fans ...

Frankly, I would rather Penny emulate Villanova and Jay Wright more than Kentucky or Duke. Villanova recruits top 35-100 kids and develops them and wins in the Big East and then the tournament.

Nobody saw the 'D'-League coming. To waste time and energy on high level kids who are money conscious is a lesson learned. It changes the perspective of recruiting in college basketball.

Cal had a Memphis team who should've been champions and their common denominators were length, development and athleticism. How many 5 stars were on that team? Having one or two 5 stars included in a mixture of experienced players with the aforementioned attributes is a winning combination. I think Coach Penny is seeking out these types players who are one step better by being position-less.
