RJ Potts in the Transfer Portal

I assume it comes down to playing time with Darrian Beavers and Jarrell White ahead of him

It always seems crazy to me when those ratings don't come to fruition. I guess I'm just putting too much stock into them. I thought RJ was going to be one of the greats.

He was a 4* safety...moved him to LB and the transition must've been much harder than was expected for him.

This is a classic example of getting pinched, as there were always quality guys in his class and above, but there are quite a few young guys who are already showing out as well.

Yup, wouldn't be surprised to see a few more transfers as well. The roster is very deep and competitive at a lot of position groups. Opens up a spot for another guy though! Good luck to RJ in the future!

That sucks. I don't get why our high rated guys never seem to pan out. What these guys don't understand is how fluid a roster could be. There is a very good chance that a player or two gets hurt and he will get his shot. Oh well.

In this era, the transfer portal is the reality. It Is basically the college equivalent of the waiver wire. It can work against or in your favor. I am confident this staff will fill this spot with a take that will enhance the roster.

Ugh. I really liked him. He caused havoc when he was in there.

Probably, but LB is still the most wide-open position on the roster at this point (maybe kicker too) with the best opportunity for a player to find new playing time. Especially when one is as talented as he was considered coming out of HS. Was he injured here or am I confused on that? Oh well, good luck to him and I'm glad he seems to be leaving on at least fairly good terms.

Huh? He had 3 tackles and 4 assists the entire year. What are you talking about?

It is getting old our top guys never pan out. I am a bit surprised as he has 2-3 years left and the LB isn’t very deep. Either way good luck to Potts!

A lot of top guys dont pan out...hell, probably 120 of the top 250 never even see a college football field consistently in their careers. When you only get one every couple of years the margin is WAY smaller, I'm thinking our luck with top guys is going to change quickly though.

You have to take into consideration though that a lot of those top 250 guys are mainly going to SEC, Clemson, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Texas, Notre Dame etc. that often are competing against better guys in not only there own class but in the class or two right after them.

If you take a look at our guys they didn’t even really even see the field at all:

Evan Prater (TBD, hopeful)
1) Dyjuan Lewis (RIP)
2) Travis Johnson (Joke)
3) Jamar Howard (Idiot, joke)
4) Leonard Taylor (Contributor so far)
5) Jameel Poteat (Joke)
6) Chris Williams (Joke)
Jaheim Thomas (TBD, love the get)
7) Reuben Johnson (Played, but nothing special)
8) Bennie Coney (Joke)
9) Tavion Thomas (Had legit talent, but think his off field stuff is why he never received the big offers, Gone)
10) Josh Whyle (Still hopeful)

After that not too bad

I wouldn't lump Chris Williams in with the rest. He had a solid career, albeit not a standout one.

Honestly don't even know why we get so hyped about the big time recruits in our program. They rarely seem to do anything and end up dissapearing into oblivion. Is it just a case where the big recruits are being passed over by bigger schools for a reason?

Add Aulden Knight to the transfer portal...probably a very good thing, he was a fair catch master, but other than that he wasnt going to contribute at all while he took up that scholly.

I didn’t know he was still with the team. I don’t think he returned a kick all year?

I called him M. Knight last year, because there always seemed to be a twist ending.

Interesting he never thanked Coach Fickell. Guess there’s some animosity there.

I see these transfers as a good sign. The more talent you have, the more you're going to see notable guys move on. No one is being given a playing spot. They have to earn it
