RE: Jeremiah Martin Revisited
Martin was a hell of a player, and I don't think anyone is questioning that. However, Memphis history is filled with great players. I personally don't think he is makes the roster for an all-time Tiger team. JMO and no disrespect intended.

No one mentioned EP. Much higher on the list of all time Tiger guards than Martin

I like Martin a lot, but he's WAY down the list of our all time best guards. Let's go back to when I began watching.
Finch, Rose, Burks, Perry, Evans, Washington, Hardaway, Garner, Wagner, Turner... all those guys I'd put ahead of martin.
that's just off the top of my head..

Martin (senior year) doesn’t start. But he’s not mop up time either.

I think he is close and if he had been apart of a run, I would certainly lean more in his direction.
Which all-time guards other than Penny would have taken Martin’s Junior and Senior year teams to a NCAA tourney?
That is a good question that I dont really have an answer for, but if I have 2 choose 2 guards for an all time list, I am pretty sure it will be 2 guards who made runs in the NCAA. If we arent seperating which guard spots, Penny and Finch immediately take the starting guard spots with Penny playing the 2.
Recent ones.
Rose
Tyreke
Barton
Burks
Martin was lovely on offense...But he didn't guard.
BS ... He was great on defense.

Man, in my opinion, I think I’d take Martin over most of those guys. Just no way DWJ was on the same level as Jeremiah Martin. Rose, Evans, Wagner all were way more athletic, but I don’t know if I’m putting the ball in either of their hands at the end of the game over JMart.
You’re not wrong, though. Just an opinion. There are some guards who are definitely better.

You are looking at through this an offensive lense...
If the question was who was the best scorer...I think Martin could be in the conversation...But if we are asking about the best player many of those guys get the nod because they played defense
I do agree that DWash was not on Martins level.

Man, I tend to remember towards the end of the year of JMart being a pretty good defender. I don’t have any evidence to back that up, but just something I remember thinking. I don’t know how many of those guys listed were great defenders either though.

A little surprising that Turner and EP only got casually mentioned.

RE: Jeremiah Martin Revisited
Andre Turner and Joe Jackson are undoubtably better all around PG's but it sounds like you're talking scoring guards. The top tier:
Win Wilfong (according to most old timers), Finch, Perry, Penny, Burks, CDR, D-Rose, Will Barton.
Jeremiah would be 2nd tier as far as scoring guards - with Doom Haynes, Vincent Askew, Dwight Boyd, Jeremy Hunt, Cheyenne Gibson, D-Wash, plus probably another half dozen old timers.
He had a phenomenal run during (I think it was) February last year. One of the greatest of all times. So not taking anything away from him. He was just asked to do so much more on his mediocre team, than some of the others on much better teams.
EDIT: To answer your question about who you want with the ball at the end of the game, it's Penny no doubt.
