67 yrs. Died of brain cancer. This a tough one to take. Student of the great jazz drummers. Just perfection on the skins. Plus wrote many of the lyrics for Rush. A great loss.

Peart was awesome! Took rock drumming to another level. He and Carl Palmer were always my favorites.
This one hurt. He was and still is one of my favorite drummers ever, and Rush remains one of my favorite groups. The kind of progrock they put out could never be made today. Too experimental and cerebral. A product of a different time.
RIP Neil Peart. Simply the best drummer I had the privilege to see live ... ever. Seeing him play two kits on stage was an incredible feast of eye candy and audible bliss. Simply remarkable.
Several rankings of all time best drummers but Neal always appears in the top 5 all time. My personal ranking would be 3. Biuddy Rich 2. Neil Peart 1. Keith Moon.
Also an avid motorcyclist who traversed the world by bike.
He will always be the drummer that I look to first as why I started playing in the first place. I will always be in awe of how he never stopped trying to better himself. If you've got a few hours, check out Neil Peart-A Work In Progress. I find it hard to believe you will be disappointed.
Saw Rush twice in 2002 in Chicago in Detroit. One of the best and most underrated bands of all time. Peart was the foundation of that success with his world class drumming and lyrics. I'm glad I got to see them live when I did.
