I always thought that was stupid. If players could effectively shoot 1 foot further back than they would have...They didn't need a line on the floor to allow them to do that.

Now what we have done is make defenses begin to crowd the paint even more because the three point shot is less of a threat.
Add a defensive 3 second call and that would stop

Making shots would make it stop as well.

Defensive 3 seconds is giving the offense a crutch...Make shots and the defense will guard you. It really is that simple.

But when we trot a lineup out there with 2-3 non shooters of course the lane is going to get clogged...Coaches are going to teach kids to stop being so one dimensional...If Precious could pull up off the dribble and make a 10 foot jump shot it would make it so easy for him to score...But he cannot consistently do it.

Totally agree.. The biggest difference I see is that in todays game it’s mostly one on one basketball.. Back then set plays were run whereas today it’s just run and gun..It was much better Basketball back then!!

The onset of one & done basketball has pushed some coaches to change their offenses to try and attract aspiring pros... and even worse... the pro game has evolved, thanks to Golden State, into a 3ball league. The problem for college ball is there aren’t enough quality players to play that style of ball, so we’re left with immature players trying to run a motion offense and doing a terrible job of it. They don’t have the skill to create their own shot, but keep being encouraged to do it, because it’s not about the development of the team, but the development of the individual. Personally, I don’t think it’s good for the pro or college game.

The irony is football is exactly the opposite. More and more pro teams are embracing elements of the RPO college-style offenses, because college qbs can come in and make an almost immediate impact... see Patrick Mahommes or Kyler Murray.

I wish the NBA would go to similar draft rules/restrictions as the NFL or MLB... it would be better for everyone involved.
I’m right there with ya.. I use to watch College BB all the time whether it was us playing or not.. I find it had to watch anymore because it just isn’t the game I grew up watching.. I’m not a NBA guy, never have been.. But everything you have said is right on point with my views..

Wow that was a great game...
You are exactly right. Players are more gifted today, no doubt, fundamentally they lack a lot however. For example free throw shooting is an adventure with many teams.

I enjoyed the game so much more in the ‘80s and 90’s than I do now. I loved the games with y’all when Dana and Larry were there.

Still remember the switchblade game at the old Midsouth Coliseum.

Miss playing y’all and Cincinnati. I would trade games against anyone in The ACC to get y’all and the Bearcats back on the schedule.
