The 49ers pushed the lead to 22 in the second half then withstood a MTSU rally to hold on to the 68-62 victory despite leading scorer Jordan Shepherd missing his second straight game with a pulled hamstring. Freshman Jamir Young led the balanced attack with 15 pts (4-8 FG, 7-10 FT); Luka Vasic had 14 pts (3-4 FG, 2-3 3s, 6-8 FT), Amidou Bamba 11 pts (5-5 FG) plus Cooper Robb and Malik Martin had 10 each.

Charlotte is a much better defensive team than in years past. They don’t have a lot of bulk inside, but good overall size with 3 guards/wings 6-6 to 6-8. The 49ers shoot FTs well and get there often (21.2/g). They also force 15.5 TO/g and turn them into 15.9 POT/g. Charlotte has held their last four opponents to under 25 pts in the first halves.
Dynamic freshman guard Jamir Young is the team’s leading RBer and is #3 CUSA in steals. This Monday he was named CUSA FOW for the 3rd time.

Charlotte- 14th in CUSA (NCAA 334 out of 350) in rebounds a game
ODU- 14th in CUSA (337th in NCAA) in assists, weirdly UNCC is 329th and UVa is 332nd [over-rated stat?]

It sounds like a toss up with two points awarded for home court.

The default setting for the ESPN match-up predictor is ODU 29%,
