I think yes, Miss St. can offer more money because of the new ABC contract, but Mississippi St. also offers less pressure. I don't Leach's background enough to know what his "dream school" is, but if succeeds at Miss. St he can name his price at that school when it comes open.

Tennessee is a better job even with higher expectations. MSU is the worst job in a completely stacked division.

RE: Oh My goodness
Let's not forgot the shape that Washington State Football was in before Leach arrived. Paul Wulff was 9-40 in the four years prior. In Bill Dopa's final four seasons, they went 20-26. Perhaps, after his experiences at Tech, Leach valued mid-to-low profile jobs to just focus on coaching. MSU can offer SEC exposure and resources without the demands to finish top-15 annually. His personality definitely appeared to be wearing out those at WSU, especially after this season; he definitely made the move at the right time IMO.

Will be interesting to see where WSU now goes. I remain curious to see if Mark Helfrich gets another college job. He was just let go by the Bears and looked like a college lifer. He is from the Pacific Northwest and took Oregon to a couple of top-10 finishes (albeit with Chip Kelly's players). It's not like Washington State is struggling when Leach was hired. Leach absolutely left WSU's program in immensely better shape than he inherited it.

So the Mississippi St board had an "insider" with the site's most viewed thread in its history that claimed it was Napier even after it was reported Napier refused to interview...and the whole site still believed him and even put #TeamBert (his name) across the site's banner. 03-lmfao

Wow! That's a tough list of top notch, highly recognizable coaches.... and Sam Pittman. I hope Leach does well and wins the division eventually.

In the end, coaches work for a living. Leach will make a whole lot more money at MSU. Why would a successful coach not want to coach in the SEC?

For sure this ends with him being fired, but meanwhile he'll make a lot of money, he'll have fun messing the other SEC coaches... Then, if he wants to continue coaching, some team will give him another job.

Leach surely got a nice raise, which at his stage of career matters more, and they will owe him that cash whether he wins or not.

Plus, despite his success at Wazzoo, the best he was able to do was some appearances in the Holiday Bowl and the Sun Bowl. You can do at least as well at Mississippi State, which has played in the Outback Bowl, Gator Bowl, and even the Orange Bowl during the same time period.

Blowing a 49-17 late third quarter lead at home to UCLA was the end for him. He did a good job at Pullman, but it is just difficult to compete in recruiting up there. There was a ceiling on his success up there. He hit it.
