Quote:In a "One Maryland" address to supporters online on Wednesday, University of Maryland athletic director Damon Evans announced a new initiative to upgrade most of the school's athletic facilities, including a new $15 million video board at Maryland Stadium. The University will invest another $25 million in improving the facilities of non-revenue sports teams. Among them, via a press release accompanying Evans' announcements:

Field Hockey & Women's Lacrosse Stadium: Comprehensive enhancement of the facility transforming the existing 5,500 square foot facility into a 12,000 square-foot team house.

Stanley Bobb Baseball Player Development Center: State-of-the-art indoor hitting and pitching facility that will allow players to train year-round in a controlled environment.

Softball Player Development Center: State-of-the-art indoor hitting and pitching facility that will allow players to train year-round in a controlled environment.

Golf Player Development Center: State-of-the-art indoor hitting facility that will allow players the chance to practice in any conditions.

Track & Field Stadium: Brand new competition areas for every aspect of track and field, bleachers for home meets and to allow hosting of conference championships.

Soccer Stadium: New amenities for athletes, coaches and fans.

Gossett Hall: expansion to provide locker rooms, a weight room, and a medical support area for a multitude of student-athletes across all teams to access.

Congratulations Maryland! Big Ten money is nice. Would you be making these upgrades if you were still in the ACC? I'm not sure.

Big Ten has been a financial lifeline for RU and UM athletics... our athletic programs will catch up before anyone knows it.
