U of M Athletic Dept - INCONSISTENT Performance
They are back at it again. We must be the only major university that is willing to accept these poor quality videos where you have no idea of the questions being asked.

Same thing in this Alabama press conference...

Both are unacceptable. Why does no one care to fix this?

RE: U of M Athletic Dept - Poor Performance
I have seen very few pressers where you can hear the questions. Even from the pros. You would have to mic up every person asking question. Some of these sessions are in hallways or locker rooms, which are not equipped for audio excellence.

I see it all the time..

In fact, I was watching the live post game press conferences after the Titans win and you couldnt hear the questions asked to the Titans or the Patriots and I was thinking at the time, wow, NFL is as bad as the Tigers...

RE: U of M Athletic Dept - Poor Performance
Actually, this is a very easy problem to fix. Here is a short video that shows how to do it.
You can do multiple microphones, say 2 or 3 in the same room and just flip back and forth
depending on who is talking and where they are located.

Press conferences are for the PRESS...

They are not held for us to watch on youtube...The fact that you can is a benefit.

So....why put them on YouTube if they are ONLY for the press?

Yeah, I used to think this was unique to us until I saw presser from other schools/teams. It's actually the norm.

This isn't a Q&A where people with questions walk up to a mike and wait their turn to ask a question.

This is such a non-issue.

We have TONS of embarrassing habits and policies in the ticket office. Start there.

So, you watch the videos and you accept the fact that you have no idea of the questions and only see the responses and....despite the fact that the U of M has done many videos where you can hear the questions....that you accept these poor videos as the norm? In other words....low levels of professionalism are totally acceptable on some videos as long as it is from the U of M? Seems like some on here accept a very low level of professionalism from the U of M when it is very easy to step up the level with little effort. To me, that is pure laziness. Sorry, I am a professional in the media industry and I think this is rediculous. Good grief...if you cannot present the U of M at a professional level to the public on YouTube..go hire an outside service to do it for you. Don't set such low levels of professionalism and public appearance for our university. We are talking about adding a few microphones and having someone in charge who cares about the product they put out to the public. Maybe we can learn from FSU. They understand. The situation is....excellence is not that hard to achieve...unless you just don't care.

It seems like an easy fix but hey, who am I to question it. It is frustrating but those in attendance aren't there for us.

Terrible title for this particular complaint. Throwing the whole AD under the bus for not having great audio at a press conference. Good grief.

We had a press conference recently with Coach Penny where you could here the questions. I'm guessing away games they don't bring the equipment.

Since some folks did not like the word POOR in the title....I changed it to INCONSISTENT. I always aim to please.
