2020-2021 Schedule Updates
Time to get started with the first update for the 2020-2021 Season.

Tubes just announced that Drexel will be participating in the Isle of Bahamas Showcase from Monday November 23 - Wednesday November 25. This is the days right before Thanksgiving. They will play 3 games in 3 days. Opponents TBA.

This isn't one of the big time made for TV tournaments that you see on ESPN. It's more of a mid-major tournament that's broadcast by Flo.

RE: 2020-2021 Schedule Updates
Jon Rothstein announced that Rhode Island will host us to open their season. Solid road game for sure. Does not appear to be a home and home, just a straight road game

RE: 2020-2021 Schedule Updates
I'll be curious if they move the schedule back a few months. Many schools may not be allowed to open in the fall, which means no fall sports. I wouldn't be surprised if the season doesn't start until January and the NCAA Tournament becomes May Madness. Spring sports could be pushed off until the summer.

Haven't heard anything. I follow Jon Rothstein on Twitter and he posts stuff all of the time but hasn't mentioned Drexel yet. The MAAC came out with their conference schedule a few weeks ago but nothing from the CAA.

As far as the conference games, Jeff Goodman reports on twitter that the 18-game league schedule will begin on Jan. 2.
If the timing for the CAA tournament remains the same, that means they would pack things into 1 week fewer than before.
I think they have discussed limiting travel by keeping teams together and having games on consecutive days. So for example, on a weekend where the Delaware-Drexel travel pair meets the Hofstra-Northeastern pair. You might have UD vs Hofstra, and DU vs NU one night and UD vs NU and DU vs Hofstra the next - all at the same site. So looking at what should be home games you might have Hofstra, NE, JMU, Towson at Drexel and then CoC, Elon, UNCW, WM at Delaware. So the only true home and home for us would be with Delaware. I'm not sure that is for sure yet, but that is what was being discussed.

The conference schedule was released. It differs a bit from what they were talking about previously. Each team faces each other two nights in a row at the same venue with the exception of your travel partner.

RE: 2020-2021 Schedule Updates
Thanks for posting. The next question will be whether or not fans will be permitted in the DAC. The MAAC has banned fans from games until 12/24. No word yet by the CAA.

Philadelphia's new rule as of now is that 10% of capacity may attend for indoor events. For the first time, it may be good news that Drexel's attendance is so bad. A 230 person cap might still be enough to satisfy players, band, cheerleaders, event staff, comps and all season ticket holders. We'll see if that cap becomes more relaxed as we get closer to the season.

Just a thought, Maybe Drexel could consider playing a game or two at the WFC as a way to get more fans and students into some games.

RE: 2020-2021 Schedule Updates
Just got the e-mail from the Drexel Ticket Office. I don't think it's appropriate to post the entire e-mail on a public forum.

But one part that I wasn't thrilled about reading...."The non-conference portion of both the men’s and women’s schedule and virtual season ticket information will be released at a later date"

I'm not sure what a VIRTUAL SEASON TICKET is but I'm not liking the sound of it. Isn't a virtual season ticket just a subscription to FLO Sports?

Given the economic impact of Covid, I think renting the WFC is really not viable.

Given the economic impact of Covid, I think that maybe the WFC would be begging for some sort of events, just to keep the building operating. My guess is that there hasn't been a single indoor event there since March.

Probably so, but my angle was DU paying that rental wasn't likely given their financials.

My guess is that it what Hofstra and MLB teams did, which is to get a cutout of you at the arena.

https://www.three-man-weave.com/3mw/colo...eview-2021 predicts:

1. Hofstra (with Player of the Year Jalen Ray, JUCO Shawndarius Cowart had elite statistics and could be a great point guard, and Mike Farrelly is Interim Head Coach because Joe Mihalich is on a medical leave of absence for an unspecified problem)
2. Charleston (predictions two transfers can help replace Riller, McManus, and Miller
3. Northeastern (Tyson Walker on the First Team)
4. Towson (Zane Martin averaged 19.9 points in 2017-2018, transferred to New Mexico, and transferred back to Towson)
5. Delaware
6. Drexel (Wynter on the First Team)
7. Elon (Hunter McIntosh on the First Team)
8. UNCW
9. JMU (Matt Lewis on the First Team, second, third, and fourth leading scorers transferred)
10. W&M

They only have guards on the First Team. Butler made the Second Team. The five teams from the America East were picked in the top six.

RE: 2020-2021 Schedule Updates
What I linked to last night says you've been consistent. Here are rankings from KenPom:

2019-2020: 244th
2018-2019: 251st
2017-2018: 251st
2016-2017: 250th (Spiker's first season)
2015-2016: 245th
2014-2015: 250th

244th through 251st is eight teams. There could be times when Duke, UCLA, or another elite team was in the top eight in six consecutive seasons, and maybe a team in the bottom eight, but to be in the same group of eight that isn't extreme in either direction for six consecutive seasons is hard. How about you guess if your KenPom will be 243rd or better, 244th to 251st, or 252nd or worse.

RE: 2020-2021 Schedule Updates
Hofstra e-mailed what a virtual season ticket means to them. In addition to having a cutout of you at the game, you get a 2020 CAA Championship hat, private forum to discuss during games, "film room breakdown and Pregame Chalk Talk sessions of select opponents" (which people who donated enough to get Pride Lounge access) get in normal home games, "pregame and halftime shows with special guests and performances," and other things. Companies and organizations can by for ads at the Mack Sports Complex and quick statements like "this is brought to you by" during the stream of the game. Sponsors can pay to "co-create" a video with Hofstra to be shown during the stream.

A couple of non-conference games from other teams releasing their schedules. LaSalle comes to the DAC on 12/12. At Farleigh Dickinson on 12/19.

RE: 2020-2021 Schedule Updates
Drexel MBB finally released their full schedule for the upcoming season. OOC schedule has 6 games for now. First of is at Penn State on Wednesday night followed by Pitt next Saturday. Dragons go back to Mohegan Sun for games against the Q and Albany. Then 2 home games after finals against SJU and LaSalle.

WBB has 4 OOC games. 3 against the Big 5 and a game at Monmouth. The interesting matchup will be on December 13th at Villanova when Amy Mallon and company face off against their former Coach, Denise Dillon.

RE: 2020-2021 Schedule Updates
I'm not sure that is the entire schedule. Both Fairleigh Dickinson and Coppin State have Drexel on their schedules on their websites.
https://fduknights.com/sports/mens-basketball/schedule
https://coppinstatesports.com/sports/men...l/schedule

I think they are allowed 27 total games so it is possible there could be another one as well.

MBB Home games with:

Coppin State - December 6th
Sienna - December 22nd

...are currently on the table crew schedule as of this afternoon. But, as we all know, things are VERY fluid with COVID.

Also, still no confirmed TV broadcast for Penn State and Pitt next week. You'd figure that a Big Ten and ACC teams playing at home in front of no fans would be a lock for TV, but I guess even the TV networks are scrambling to put a schedule together in the year of COVID.
