That was a pretty epic loss.

Kind of odd to pass the ball to a player, in an obvious foul situation, who hasn't shot a FT all season. That's a lot of pressure for such an inexperienced player.

Well coached teams set players up to succeed. That was not the case here. After a full timeout also

Mateen is a good free throw shooter and ball handler. Just because he hasn’t had any attempts doesn’t mean he can’t shoot free throws. They had a 12pt lead the game was lost well before the last seconds.

So coach K is not a good coach because Duke didn't finish against Stephen F Austin?

I’m just flat out mad after that one. I imagine though the players are disappointed too. We will see how they respond

The BS call against Cochran set everything up. NIU just collapses in the last 6 minutes every single game.

Thata true but you just cant have Mateen at the line in that situation. This game really really stings.

I didn't have an issue with him inbounding the ball with Daow out. And they got the ball to German, they just didn't foul him. But when Mateen got the ball, he should have immediately passed to Hankerson instead of trying to dribble up the court.

This loss is a blessing in disguise, last year NIU started out MAC play 3-0 and finished with only 4 more wins. They also started out with two road wins then won a home game to start 3-0

RE: MBB @ Chips
If NIU puts one player in front of the ball to slow it down up the court even a half second we win. We might as well should have Had every one on the bench, same difference

RE: MBB @ Chips
I’m guessing the reason Mateen held onto the ball is he knows that he is a good free throw shooter.

The 12 point lead was way before the end. The Huskies have not given up a 10+ run in the last two games. Hey we all would have been happy with a 1-1 start and that's what we got. Yea I would like two and oh but the team is playing well. MAC refs can determine games outcome and they did this game with non calls and bad calls.

GO HUSKIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That was a very tough loss to take but the truth is if NIU is any good that game won’t matter and if the stink that game won’t matter.

+1 The refs were very biased in this game. Where do they get these guys?

The refs did not cost them this game! They missed free throws at the end and had a scoring drought late in the game.

Now that I have settled down a little, the team played with energy and heart the entire game. I give them credit and while this one hurts like a SOB, have to be proud of the effort. We look like a real team the past couple of games.
