The preseason AP top 25 was WAY OFF with regard to the AAC & G4 conferences. Again.
.

The geniuses who selected the preseason AP top 25, for the 6th year in a row, vastly underestimated the number of G5 teams that would end up in the FBS top 25.

This has happened every year since the P5/G5 split took place.

Preseason AP Top 25......................Week #16 AP Top 25

(One G5 Team).................................(Six G5 Teams)

1. Clemson...........................................LSU
2. Alabama...........................................Ohio St.
3. Georgia............................................Clemson
4. Oklahoma........................................Oklahoma
5. Ohio State........................................Georgia
6. LSU.................................................Florida
7. Michigan..........................................Oregon
8. Florida............................................ Baylor
9. Notre Dame......................................Auburn
10. Texas.............................................Alabama
11. Oregon..........................................Wisconsin
12. Texas A&M.....................................Utah
13. Washington....................................Penn State
14. Utah..............................................Notre Dame
15. Penn State.....................................Memphis
16. Auburn..........................................Minnesota
17. UCF..............................................Michigan
18. Michigan State................................Boise St.
19. Wisconsin.......................................Iowa
20. Iowa..............................................Appalachian St.
21. Iowa State......................................Navy
22. Syracuse........................................USC
23. Washington State............................Cincinnati
24. Nebraska........................................Air Force
25. Stanford.........................................Oklahoma St.

.
An apt term to describe this systematic pattern of preference is: "bias."

Another is "discrimination."

A third is "injustice."

When are the "65 sportswriters and broadcasters from across the nation" who select the top 25 teams going to take responsibility for correcting this systematic pattern of bias against the G5 conferences?

The 'P5" doesn't have to play its way in to the Top 25. 'G5' does.

It doesn't matter that UC is bringing back a lot of the same talent and coaching staff that was top 25 the past 2 years, they will be on the outside looking in again next year.

It's frustrating and lazy.

There's no way the 65 AP voters actually research all 130 FBS teams for the preseason rankings. The voters will probably rank one of UC, Boise, or Memphis to "check the box," but would never consider more than 1. That'd take too much work.

The average voter probably lets the first six weeks play out before even considering schools off their radar.

I was told Texas is back. Can’t wait to see them ranked 10th in the preseason and then lose 5 games. Just because they beat an insanely overrated Utah.
